Holy shit, how is this on Fox News? Definitely not Faux's usual tone at all, and she makes a lot of good points about the stupidity currently going on with the federal budget crisis.

God damn teabaggers.

I laughed out loud reading this. And I doubt they'd use explosives. For all we know this supposedly clueless copper-gatherer might really be an aging ex-KGB agent dressed up in a babushka.

Wis. corrects vote count, gives incumbent big lead

I don't know how you can lose 7500 votes in a county and then have it just appear after the other side announces they won.

It may very well be legitimate votes but it still smells fishy.

What worse is that those are enough votes to eliminate the need for an automatic recount under Wisconsin law. If the state doesn't recount the results anyway (and I can see Walker blithely saying that WI can't afford it), we'll see some serious lawsuits. I'll bet they get appealed all the way up to the Wisconsin Supreme Court! Oh, wait...

[Elected judiciaries are a scourge that should be eradicated from our states.]

From what I can recall from the 2000 Presidental Election, recounts are a double edged sword. From private recounts done afterwards, it looks like Gore bit his own foot. If they went with the Republican notion of complete recount, Gore might have won. But going with the Gore proposed limited recount, Bush would still win without any Judicial wrangling.

The comments section still show that the world is still fair and balanced.

...but yeah, wow. Who is that lady and how did she get on Fox?

I second Irenicus. How the hell did she get on Fox? I thought they were all about fear mongering and spreading ignorance

Look at the comments. It's obvious to see how she got on Fox. Because they know she's not gonna make a damn bit of difference and now Fox News can say they're Fair and Balanced just because they got one person to write an article on the other side of the argument.

The only good comment I have read is that both parties (GOP and Dem) have their own flaws. If they refuse to sit down and negotiate but play all these political games of exploiting each other, Big Corp still wins, and the rest of the world simply say "Thank goodness I am not an American.".

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

To an extent, you still need to be weary of globalization

If the fucking globalisation didn't make it so hard for me to pay my university fees (which I eventually have to drop out from because my parents don't want to support paying them, the bank requires a goddamn minimum income I cannot earn or find a job for, and scholarships are catering to the bloody rich foreign bastards whose parents pull strings to get for their kids), I would have supported it wholeheartedly.

But since socialism/communism is neither good with a lousy central planning policshit that consolidates wealth and power by force at the top, it makes me thing that the whole world is in such a deep state of mess nobody dares to step in and clean up.

Instead of all the lousy arguments from purely "economic" perspectives, why doesn't the politicians take a leaf from Robert Mcnamara's teachings and fucking enact some hardcore no-nonsense research and planning, instead of blaming it on "he doesn't agree with me"?

Right now, I am still trying to convince my mother to pay for at least the bridging course so I can go out and find work, then transition into part-time studies after I completed it. But she refuses to understand that the Singapore Armed Forces pay me $400 per month for 2 years to do shit, while my sister earns $1400/mth working outside for the same amount of time. And now my sister has a degree earning her $3000 per month, while I still have yet to finish my degree.

And if the US economy doesn't pick up, I'll be stuck with forever increasing university fees while my paygrade still stays below $1600 thanks to "foreign talent", which are considerably cheaper since MNCs are hiring in their currency, a significantly smaller proportion through conversion. That is what is called a goddamn poverty cycle - I don't want to stay single for the rest of my life or without kids just because I can't afford their education beyond high school.

But the biggest thing I don't agree with about globalization is its context of standardization of products for the sake of better accessibility of goods and services (which is a contradiction when you consider that in practice, prices are always getting higher and exchange rates aren't helping much either). It's getting rid of local economies and their methodologies and wiping out the middle class.

Socialism would've worked if people weren't so full of greed and inherently desired to control all that happens around them. That's why so many people are loath to work with one another and why the ideals of Karl Marx were too optimistic imho. It relied too much on the goodness of the people.

I know about housing lol. My parents bought our house (a 4-room studio apartment) for $168k many years back, and I did a consultation with my friend (a top-rated property agent at 5-stars), and he valued it as $580k++ today. My parents have finished the downpayment and instalments and every now and then we have assholes offering $600-700k for our house which we live in, so they could sell and profit from it (I called the police ).

Standardisation of products isn't that bad if -branding- and -innovation- are left out of the picture, it keeps quality in check and is highly destructive towards corner-cutting in favour of profits. The problem is the organisations keeping in check of them - they either want to :

1. Consolidate copyrights for eternity
2. Skew corner-cutting to avoid paying for safety measures
3. Lobby for branding as innovation (those are two separate ideologies)
4. Cut costs as much as possible, even to the extent of outsourcing to places like Cambodia (where kids are chained to machines and worked to their deaths - child labour).

Instead of maintaining quality, it has become a game of maintaining the profits of the top executives. What bull.
