Hi thank you^^

i'm using "ABC" right now hehe^^
i tried to use BitTornado but the dl speed is the same even after manualing anouncing. dl is constant 3 kb takes very long , but i also realised that my upload speed is very slow as well lol i think its like only 1kb~~

As for global upload preference i put max6 uploaders at 4-10kb
I'm also using US Robotics router by the way

Another question is who is your ISP? Are you connecting from college/work/home? Many Colleges limit the bandwidth if not outright prevent users from using P2P apps like BT.

Heh, a fellow vancouverite and shaw user. How well is the torrent seeded? if it has few seeds/peers than chances are your speed wont be great. Also, because you live in Vancouver and use shaw, you have a problem right there. Shaw's using the old Rogers backbone in most parts of vancouver and it really is loaded many times over its capacity. Not much you can do there unless you want Telus (i wouldnt, but thats just me). I would double check that you have your ports forwarded correctly and that protocol TCP is enabled. Also, make sure your not running any other/too many bandwidth intensive programs. Another question, what modem model do you have? is it a blue Terayon or did Shaw/you replace it with the new docsis II modem (black motorolla one). If you still have the older blue terayon, then the modem itself could be your problem, as many people seem to be experience slow downloads with that one now. Just bring it to the nearest Shaw location and they should replace it for free.

I'm using the new motorola one. Like most of the time i'm connected to 10-20 + seeds, but still getting lousy speeds ; ; like 1-2kb or every 4kb if im lucky. Like my friend is also using shaw but he stays in richmond, but he seem to be averaging from 60-80kb. Oh ya I unplugged my router and tried to connect the net directly but still so slow; ; Maybe its because i upgraded it to the I-extreme internet?
Maybe I should since i'm not even getting at least 80-100 kb >< or even 50+++

I also have the Extreme-I package, so that should, if anything, decrease your problems. Hm, the only other thing I can think of off hand is that you have a program that is limiting your computers bandwidth or than you may have a problematic cable/network card. I am not sure what else to tell you, hopefully someone with other ideas will come and help. I suppose it could also be that their is interference around your computer that your cables shielding cannot fully block(extremely unlikely circumstance) or you have a corrupted network driver in your system. Other than that, not really sure. In Vancouver, its all about location sometimes, my friend lives on Burnaby Mountain and he has few problems with his internet speed. Then here is another friend that lives near Metrotown and is basically on a 56k modem.

ah........ ; ;
but dont think its my network adapter's problem though. cuz i can dl from sites like www.download.com for 500kb++ only doesnt work for torrent ><
but really think that it has to do with my ports or something like that or something. But it still doesnt make sense cuz i tried to connect my net line directly from modem to comp and the torrents speed averages from 0-1kb this time~.~
and i cant think of anything else that would affect the dl speed. I am even connected to over 20 seeds and yet dl speed is at 2-3kb for a long time. But for some reason today for 1/2 hr my dl speed went up to 20-30kb and then it dropped back down again lol

..From vancouver myself. Using the Motorola modem, i-extreme. I have the same problem, 20kb/s avg down, 0kb/s avg up for days now. Its not just you, its our isp. Seems like our isp(shaw) has decided to throttle our bandwidth usuage by blocking the ports used by bt. As a result, we are getting these crappy speeds.

Sucks doesn't it? Cant do anything about it for now. The best sanario is to just switch to a different isp who don't throttle our bittorent downloading/uploading.

You can get more information here:

Shadowlord hows your bittorrent speed? Your using shaw i-extreme right? But your not affected?

Thanks for info tk. OMG i'm so angry at the fact that I think i got cheated. Why am I paying extra 15 CND for an upgrade when I'm not even getting the speed in the programs I wanna use. I think it's just some kind of scam.... If this was the case I should have just left it at normal cable speed. I called up for technical assistance 3 times and they didn't know what the problem was lol. And the last person said that he will be telling it to a senior technician. If I'm not getting the speeds I might as well unsubscribe.

Is telus good? I heard from a friend that the speed is ok, but there is quite abit of downtime though~~

Thx for all the help guys; ;

(Right now dling gundam at 0.3kb.... Hope i can get it done by this week lol)
