I found the ending bad enough that I decided not to buy the series. Furthermore I found it disappointing to watch 18 or so fantastic episodes then have the last third of the series run quickly downhill. The last couple episodes were convoluted and annoying.

I am picking up the manga as it it released domestically. I am enjoying it as much as I enjoyed the begining of the anime, and it has already reached the point where the anime left off. I can't wait until the next volume is released in May!

The Manga is SOOOOO much better. However I haven't read any new ones, back before Kare Kano was licensed, I had a bunch of translated manga by scanlators. It was REALLY good. But alas now that Harddrive failed and I lost 60GB of manga

I have to agree with Lambda, the last stage, despite not being handled as well
as the previous ones, was still highly enjoyable. I loved Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou,
despite the last few episodes. Although those recap/demographic episodes were
hard to sit through.

A couple episodes shouldn't deter you from buy the series. Honestly, if you
followed suit with that, noone would buy the Kiddy Grade DVDs since the series
doesn't pick up until around the tenth episode. Even then, it's hole ridden plot is
nothing amazing but that just my opinion.

({[ Kare Kano ]})

hello everyone! im new to this whole message board thing. so i decided to give posting a thread a try.

KARE KANO!!!

i just recently started watching this series, and its already my favorite romantic anime. ( shojou? ) FRUITS BASKET, which used to hold the top spot, is now at number 2. i'm kinda amazed at how this anime can be so addicting when it is real world school stuff. no magic or super high tech science of any kind. amazing!

u looking for a story that will make u sigh and laugh? ( sometimes at the same time, which is awkward. haha ) check out KARE KANO!

any thoughts? comments? questions?

Welcome to the forums but I suggest that if you want to introduce yourself you should post in the Introduce yourself here! thread found in the General Chat forum.
If you want to discuss Fruits Basket, then you should create a thread in the DVD & Licensed forum.
If you want to discuss His & Her Circumstances, then post in the existing Kare Kano / His & Her Circumstances thread.

Zip. Nada. Besides Hideaki Anno has forsaken the art of anime and does live action now. He hates anime (wonder if he was being sarcastic).

If ever, IF EVER, it will be some new all-digital remakeajig with a new director, and it won't be as good (or bad, depends on your perspective).

Word on the street (metaphorically) has it that Gainax was very interested in continuing, even without Anno at the helm. It was, after all, a big hit. However, the manga-ka didn't like the way the first season had been handled, and so she pulled her support and the project died. From what I can tell, she wanted a more dramatic interpretation of the story, and less of the weirdo semi-manga style animation.

Whatever the reason, there will definitely not be any more KareKano animated.

"Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou" ran on Fridays at 18:30-19:00. Despite being on a golden time slot, it only managed to get an average MR viewer rating of 5.3%...which is considered "a flop" for a show airing on that time slot.

You know, I kind of hope that the entire portion of the industry fuelling late night "otaku" anime collapses. Companies need to focus on creating original shows that have mainstream appeal and will work in primetime hours. That entire mentality seems to have dissapeared since the late nineties.

Ideally, yes - I agree with you.

Unfortunately, the mood of companies that sponsors such anime houses only care about profits - hence they all take the "safe path" in backing-up shows that was previously shown to be profitable (i.e.: games, mangas, novels, etc.)

"Original" shows are risky - they can either provide massive success or flop down the oblivion.

"Gensaku-tsuki" (based-on) shows are safe paths - it brings in the hard-core fans of original medium to buy the DVDs.
