Kamogawa focused on Ippo's neck. Kojima's weakness is that he is not the protagonist. It's like Date fighting Martinez. Date's family was there and Date's put everything what he had. But Morikawa created Martinez as an invencible prodigy. Back to the training, to Morikawa, Kamogawa is one hell of a trainer (despite our opinions ), so you can say that Kamogawa anticipated every observation that Miyata and the others did, so probably he knew Ippo's pattern and that Kojima could try that approach. That's the way that Ippo's wins goes, he trusts in Kamogawa's training so his body can endure anything on the ring. So if Kojima's punch is heavy, Kamogawa trained Ippo to endure it and fight back. That's why Takamura told him to fight like a champion and not as a challenger. Kojima even saw Ippo's will of fight and he hesitated for a second.I think that is very unreasonable after hundreds of chapters to even think in an Ippo's loss. He is gonna win.

Yeah, just that maybe it won't be as easy as people thought it would, which is kinda sad because now we're gonna see another horribly long and strenuous fight between them and Ippo's gonna make another of his typical comeback KO's when in all probability, his fight should've ended on the first punch in his favour.

I also think Ippo is going to win, because if he lost, I don't see how this manga can continue.
Not because Ippo is the main character and he shouldn't lose but because Ippo has no other approach. If this counter successfully take him down or leads to his defeat, I don't see how Ippo can continue as a boxer. Not to mention it'll pissed off his hardcore fan base (including me), if this is what the past 15 shamelessly drawn-out chapters leads to.

About the neck.
The training was for him to take the hits head on, not on the side. That pic with Ippo's head twisting, it's not what the training was about. In that exchange, the other guy looked like he won. Though, Ippo's gloves looked like it hit the other guy, too. So, I guest I'll wait for further chapter(s). |

this is a manga where we see Ippo's training pays off, that's why he trains harder than everyone else. Iam missing Sendo alot lately.....

Oh yeah, but with the way this series going lately, Ippo probably bounce right back and win decisively hence keeping his defy the odd signature. But that would make this another shitty fight, IMO.
On the other hand, if Ippo didn't bounce right back and and got into his usual messy fight and barely pull out a win or worse if he lost (which I don't think would happen, BTW). In either case it just set Ippo back and creating another sense of venerability similar to early Damsey Roll. It would be even worse. Either way right now I don't see really have a lot of hope for this match.

If they took that many chapters to show us a one punch counter knock out - I'm never reading this again.

And another month before that to show Ippo and the challenger getting ready in their locker room and heading toward the ring....
I don't ming slow moving plot (otherwise I won'y be a fan of this series for this long), put lately the pacing is just awful, no, actually horrendous....
