Home phone problem.. :/

Hey, we have a motorola thing as our housephone.
Up until a few months ago it was working fine, but recently it has stopped making calls.. it makes the dial tone, says it is ringing on screen. But it just makes a straight beeping noise. :/

Anyone had this problem/know how to fix it.. I googled it but couldn't find anything.

My dad is out overnight and I need to get in touch with him. [No mobile credit either] so please if anyone could help asap.

Have you tried swapping the cables used by your phone? Could be some wire break somewhere, due to excess pulling.

The batteries may be on their last legs as well if it uses them. Insufficient power can make devices act very odd. If you post the model of the device, we might be able to see if there's any "known problems" with it or give more precise answers

If your family ends up replacing the phone(s), I strongly recommend buying Panasonics. They have a good array of features and seem almost bullet-proof. Something like this would be a good choice. Here's the same basic system with four handsets for under 100.
