I've been trying to get a list of every Higurashi manga (the tankobons), but I am getting seriously confused with all of the different arcs, the amount of books for each, and the order. Can someone tell me if I have this right? I plan to go buy the books when I go to Japan this year.
Higurashi Onikakushi-hen (鬼隠し編): 2 books Watanagashi-hen (綿流し編): 2 books Tatarigoroshi-hen (祟殺し編): 2 books Himatsubushi-hen (暇潰し編): 2 books Higurashi Kai Meakashi-hen (目明し編): 4 books Tsumihoroboshi-hen (罪滅し編): 4 books Minagoroshi-hen (皆殺し編): 6 books Matsuribayashi-hen (祭囃し編): 7 books Higurashi Rei? Hirukowashi-hen (昼壊し編): 1 book Gaiden? Yoigoshi-hen (宵越し編): 2 books Onisarashi-hen (鬼曝し編): 1 book Utsutsukowashi-hen (現壊し編): 1 book Kokoroiyashi-hen (心癒し編): 1 book Gohanashi-hen (語咄し編): 7 book Is this all of them, or at least all of the ones in the main series (question/kai/rei)? Are they in the right order? I'm assuming some of the arcs aren't even finished from the talk in this thread. Which parts are completed? |

Onisarashi-hen is two volumes not one. It also has a epilogue chapter floating around but I'm not sure where you would be able to find that.
Utsutsukowashi-hen was cancelled after three chapters so unless you're a collector I'm not sure it would be worth your time and money. That said, I can't vouch for your breakdowns of Kai or Rei, and I've never even heard of Kokoroiyashi-hen or Gohanashi-hen, but the rest looks more or less correct.

Looking at the game, I see 3 arcs for Rei:
Saikoroshi-hen (賽殺し編) Batsukoishi-hen (罰恋し編) Hirukowashi-hen (昼壊し編) I only see Hirukawashi as a manga. I believe Gohanashi is a series of fan created stories. Personally I'm not too interested in all the Gaiden stuff for now. I can only carry back a certain amount of weight and this series is already pushing 30 books. I might just go for the question and answer arcs. |

Been very happy with the Yen Press' publication of Higurashi. It's a very nice thing to have the books in English on the bookshelf
 Hopefully they'll keep on releasing the entire series in its totality.Loved the newest "Demon Exposing Arc" (Onisarashi-hen): the artstyle was superb and the story had all the essential Higurashi elements in it. It was also, in my opinion, a nice choice to release this arc as a single book instead of two as now it clearly distinguishes itself from the main story (by being so thick  ).

As far as I can tell, if there is an epilogue it was never collected in the tankobons of the series that was released, so no, it's not there. I did see there was an epilogue when I researched it for a review, but as far as I can tell it might have been only in a magazine. Yen uses the volumes released in Japan, not the chapters from magazines before they are collected.

You should know, that epilogue chapter really exists, and only in tankoubon.
It's not in Onisarashi-hen tankoubon ver, but in Utsutsukowashi-hen - that has same artist. So I think, if Utsutsukowashi-hen isn't published in English, the "After story" of Onisarashi-hen won't be done too.
