Haven't read the novel, so what kind of role is she playing?

The girl when Kana Hanazawa is voicing is a pink-haired girl named Kureha Sakamachi, Kinjiro's (the protagonist) little sister. She's one of the main heroines.

Keiichiro Kawaguchi is directing this. The series can do whatever it wants - and with him at the helm, most likely will - but I am 100% in. That man knows his comedy.

Yes, if you try to hear her voice on Index I episode 6 you can notice her voice can pass as a cute boy and then swith it to a girl.

Wow... even though she's dressed as a boy and all, I totally expected her voice to be a lot more softer than that. I don't know, it just seems unfitting now, especially for someone with such a petite physique... the voice is too rough, they overdid it this time.

Ideally she would sound similar to Saber. She's "mini-Saber" after all.

I am pretty sure the seiyuu would use a much more girly voice on her deredere scenes, God forbid it if she uses the Index voice.
