Kidding. Just tempted to post something before the episode airs, have to say I'm quite excited over the expectation of a finale that I don't expect to bring me much excitement story-wise (other than what flower it is). It's a pretty refreshing feeling.

Jinta returns Anaru's hankey from episode 8 but is ambushed by Aki and Haruna. Tsuruko and Yukiatsu hanging in the train with Tsuruko wearing the clip Yukiatsu had in his drawer. Also, Poppo working and studying txtbooks at the same time

Oh my god I got so much tears on my eyes and I don't know if they are from the drama or because I laughed too hard.

Spoiler for episode:

I was jumping on my seat during the entire episode especially the first half because the tension is very heavy. Like, Tsuruko breaking down and judo-ing Anaru almost made me think that everyone would start killing each other

I feel so bad for Poppo! Poor big guy.

So much secondhand embarrassment, you know, that feeling when you are the one feeling embarrassed for what the characters are doing, especially when they are all crying and YELLING out so damn hard. Oh dear. xD

Menma's wish is very simple but it was still touching.

The epilogue left me wanting for more though. I'm surprised Anaru is still sticking with her wh0re friends, but it seems like they accepted Jinta? Also that train moment with Yukiatsuruko was too cute! I was grinning like an idiot.

Overall, AnoHana's finale left me with a smile on my face. Excellent and flawless in terms of entertainment. It's just sad that one of my favorite show this season ends.

The final episode itself seemed like a step down from earlier episodes, but I'm mostly happy with the way the stories ended for each of the characters. I don't want to spoil anything important for anyone so I'll hold off on detailed commentary for now, but I'll say these things:

Spoiler for a minor point:

This episode was almost comically full of the characters crying. I mean, I cried a fair amount at times, but there were parts where I had to laugh at just how much weeping was going on.

Spoiler for Speculation about writing process:

I now am pretty confident this show had to have started out as a 13 episode series and got compressed to 11 to fit into the noitamina timeslot.

Spoiler for Vague Commentary:

Usually when an anime goes to stupid town in the last episode it's because the plot does something completely idiotic. That's not what happened here, and big-picture-wise this anime ended very very well. Any issues I have with the ending are about its being a little too maudlin in a few of the scenes.
