But they didn't get 13 or more episodes, it's not like the director doesn't know how many episodes he'll get. This was just a mess, but I just don't get the ending, will he ever meet his little love interest? what about Mikuni or what's his name?

Why did everyone get there history exept Kimimaru? Those other people lost their future as well yet here they are enjoying it, why is he the only one not having it?
What's with that god like person?
What about Mikuni ?
How did they follow C ?

I guess everyone felt like the ending left a bad taste in the mouth.

Btw, I noticed after re-watching that the ED sequence has changed a little. Notice that at the beginning of the ED, Kimimaro's card has changed to the black card. Before it was the beginner's card.

I thought it was a good read too, but I'm not sure I'd say it was comically bad. More like so bad it's good? Definitely B-grade, but some of the best stuff ever made is, and absolutely a cult classic imo (yeah yeah...I'm sure someone will complain it can't be a cult classic right after ending).

My initial assessment was pretty spot on though, I think. This really had to have been a tough show to sell to the execs. How it got financed is anyone's guess. But I'm glad it did.

I liked the overarching message, and as Kaioshin says in his blog, "the rule of cool" was definitely entertaining. And of course I have my grumblings. The ending was far too vague and inconclusive, and hurt even more by the fact that you never really get any time to care about the characters or what happens because everything feels so breakneck paced. To make it worse, nothing is ever really explained, mostly because there is no time for it.

In the end, the selling point for me was the unique premise and Msyu, with a secondary nod to Jennifer. Masakaki also gets an award for being nearly as creepy and fun as a financial Willy Wonka. Oh and Cthulu money. Can't forget that.

So, great series? Nah. But I would have no problem recommending this to someone who just wanted to watch something fun and maybe a little bit thought provoking....if you don't think too hard.

I was surprised that the Mikuni/Kimi fight didn't conclude within the first 5 minutes of the show. The later 15 minutes could have been spent just briefly showing off protagonists picking oranges happily. As for answering to what happened to Kimi/jen/Mikuni/Takedasaki, you'd probably need another episode for this.

The anime actually did give answers, it's just the answers were vague and they were largely unsatisfying. At the end we see Gawd of the FD (who eerily resembles Sennoza with tentacle tattoos) explain to Kimimaro that the whole purpose of the FD was for people to have conflict and that this would inevitably lead to a better future for humanity.

Agreed that this was a hard sell to the execs, one must wonder what the hell happened in those conference rooms.

Strange thing is, doesn't the ending sequence open with some words that imply that C is actually a 26 episode series?

I guess that means that ending on an extremely low note is just because there's going to be a 2nd run of 13 episodes. I then speculate that this time it will be with a new protagonist and Kimimaro supporting/playing 2nd fiddle to him, like how Mikuni did.

This has been bugging the hell out of me for a very long time and I have no idea what it means. I think 'C' was supposed to be 26 ep long? It'd be shame if they switched up all the characters. I really grown to like a lot of the cast.

Does anyone know if we can find out what the ratings were like? More importantly if the show was a success or not. Even with how terribly bad ep11 was executed, I can almost forgive them because of the past 10 ep's and the fact that it will make many think about the topic of money.

This question was addressed earlier and basically the answer should be that the sentence is just a bad english form to state that C is Noitamina's show number 26.

No. All that states is that [C] is the 26th noitaminA anime to be broadcast. (AnoHana is down as the 27th).

It was always going to be 11 episodes.

In respect of everything this anime has offered, I say this:
1. The creators seemed to think of the concepts before the plot.
2. The romance between Kimimaro and Msyu, in the end, felt shoehorned into the plot (sort of like most video games where they have to have some kind of 'love interest' to keep people interested).
3. The anime suffered due to a small budget (with the animation quality on offer, I'd be very surprised if they had a large budget to work with)
4. The anime BADLY suffered due to the lack of episodes available. As previously said (by someone else), there was a beginning and an end, but no middle - thus it felt rushed towards the end.

Terrible ending. C is the kind of series that have very interesting concepts and utterly fail to exploit them properly. It started off well but it gradually fell apart and ended up as a train wreck. That said, it was still entertaining in its own right; perhaps because it was so bad it was good, as Solace said. The end of the fight made me laugh really hard, that scene was straight from hot blooded anime such as Gurren Lagann, which wasn't really fitting here

Such a waste of potential...

Best thing in this episode was Msyu kissing Kimimaro. A complete victory for the daughtercon, and a complete failure for the siscon. So, what happened to Hanabi? It kind of seemed like she disappeared. I'm not even sure why she lost her marbles in the first place.

many potential but ended with a lame-forced happy ending.... lol
I will give some overall opinion about this anime :

I almost dropped this anime! I think that the story is twisted and confused. But I watch it back because they finally include some emotional scenes and complicated but deep problems
I like how they made a great economic depression in the world and about the true value between present and future
They made some paradox and I enjoyed it so much... at least this anime can give me some understanding about economic to science-man like me... lol
I admit that I need to read some review in this forums to understand every episodes... thanks guys!

at the ending, no one sad.... everyone is back even Jennifer and teacher's son... I only loved the battle and the scene where Kimimaro decided to reverse-rotate everything.... So his solution is reverse-rotate everything to the beginning of financial district and reset Midas Money circulation from the real life
(I don't like the idea about dollars become the main currency... lol)

I hate the ending! why? because I don't know what is the connection between Masyu and Kimimaro's future....!! The relation between them is also forced and not focused (only to add some appeal in the anime but well at least the kiss scene really make me feel better... xD )

at least, if you end it with a scene where Kimimaro meets again with Masyu in reality, I can feel better.... just add some 5 minutes for that scene, ok???!!!

We don't even know from the ending we saw. We can only assume that she will be alright since the economy is spared. She looked pretty depressed after doing her internship at a local kids school. I think the viewer is supposed to assume that she couldn't get any jobs after doing the internship and she became a depressed shut-in of a NEET. It's just too bad they couldn't flesh out the explanation better.

I was under the impression that she was enjoying her time working with the kids but somehow they all either vanished (Deal aftereffect? Yeah, it shouldn't be since she wouldn't remember otherwise) or got removed from the school (due to the economy?) and she entered this depressed state where she's shut in her room in denial and keeps reliving/recalling her time with them (Evidenced by her muttering how to pronounce her name to non-existent kids).

very confused...... so what happens to Mikuni? since he admitted to losing the dual, what happens to him? and what about Kimimaro? someone said he's invisible to people, but that's also pretty vague in the story. I thought his price of using the darkness part would be more tangible (like losing somoene) than being made invisble? so did he trade all of his future for the future of Japan? and I don't even get Masakaki's speech at the end.

so confusing.....

In the end, it seems the whole thing is a tribute to Joseph Schumpeter's Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy with emphasis on "creative destruction". Basically, one shouldn't try to mortgage the future to live the present, but rather go through the troubles to live in an uncertain future, since that is how humanity has developed, for good or bad.

Or maybe I'm trying to look at only the good side of this series

So everything went back to normal and as collateral Kimimaro removed from present world and now being totally invisible to present people. The pretty lights and colors from returning the futures did give this episode a warm and fuzzy feeling, but it was really weird to see MSYU finally get that kiss from Kimimaro. Because I'm sure she was depicted as the daughter of Kimimaro in the flashback that showed previous episode.

But if that's the case then we can assume that there is a incest relationship going on so I'm not sure if its possible for me to accept that sort of relationship. I don't but it doesn't just feels right for me. However, in my humble opinion, I think Masasaki and the officals in the site are trolled big time or trolling I don't know. With that kiss, I can assume or I guess this either disproves the idea that they were going to be brother/sister, or father/daughter. More like I consider MSYU as or supposed to be representation of Hanabi. We know that Kimimaro is in love or in love interest with Hanabi. So let's look at this scene:
Spoiler for Hanabi = MSYU?:

Doesn't she reminds you so much MSYU? I get the feeling, at least for me, Hanabi was Kimimaro's future. The fact that the little boy didn't see Kimimaro in the end of episode means that we can assume Kimimaro is currently and totally invisible to present world. Moreover Hanabi was enjoying her time working with the kids in the park and when she passed by Kimimaro and yeah when she walked along Kimimaro, he was about the shout "Hanab-" but he didn't. So this clearly shows that (at least to me), and he is aware of that his future is now safe . She was right before his eyes and the idea of she is doing alright makes Kimimaro feel at ease. So that's why he said that at the very last minute of ending "I should have smiled, to the future" while looking at the picture that he holds. Because in the past he had worry-fart personality and didn't even get the chance to smile because of his troubles. But after the battle in FD, now everything turned out to be alright and there is no need to worry about his future since its in good hands even though his present taken as collateral and now invisible. In short I totally reject the idea that MSYU is his daughter but Hanabi who he cares, worries a lot and loves her. As for Q being Mikuni’s sister, well, let’s just say it wasn’t a surprise because of the circumstances he went through in the past. Lastly I agree that the ending could be different rather than concluding with bittersweet ending. Because it leaves a bit bad taste in the mouth.

Is there another instance of himself running around? How is his future safe if he's invisible?
