Eye Opening vol. 4 is out now.
-No inside cover of Satoko and Rika. I was really hoping they would after the Beyond Midnight vol. 2 cover, but oh well.
-I really wish they hadn't directly translated Shion's laughs. "Gyo-go-go-ga-gya" doesn't sound so much insane laughter as it does drama-killing baby talk. An "AHAHAHAHA!" would have done just fine.
-Oh, and Rika calls Shion "torture fiend."

Hinamizawa Bus Stop was a play Ryukishi wrote. All the action took place at a single bus stop. He adapted / expanded it into the Higurashi VNs.

I actually suspect those two girls to either be Rika's mother and Akane or relatives of the Sonozaki or Furude (if so, the story would be taking place before the Furude family bloodline is wiped out from the war)... rather then an older Rika with Mion.

Well you can try to gauge a timeline based on the technological tells in the picture. Mainly the truck in the background.

Is there some style of the truck that we should know about? If Joly is correct, then this particular story should occur in the late 1950's.

I don't know Japanese trucks, but if one can find out when that model was first made, then you can figure out how far back it can possibly be.

Also I assume their clothing style could give hints as well.

Can't say much about that. The uniforms look practically identical to Rena's.

That was 1983 afterall. Rika and Satoko would be about 40 now with everyone else being in there mid to late 40s.

Mions daughter and Rikas daughter, since we all know K1 is the only one who will manage to score with the main cast they must be half sisters

though my theory is that since HBS was meant to be the pilot story for higurashi it could just be that rika was meant to be older before he set their character models and mannerisms

My Pc just crash and all of the manga i saved cant be recover, can anyone post the updates of all Higurashi from Onikakushi-hen to Matsuribayashi-hen in media fire?my connections is too slow, i cant even download a single chapter in megaupload

Before you go nuts, did the operating system crash, or did the entire hard drive die (clicking sounds from the drive, spin up and spin down noises, etc)? If it's just the OS, then you can still recover your data (pretty effortlessly, too).

I also believe this could be a possible theory (and I like it too...! :P)

I just cannot see these characters as being "timeskipped" versions of the main cast or something like the main cast's children.

If the "Hinamizawa Bus Stop" story does take place in the 1950s, does that mean that the Sonozaki is a teenage Oryou then? I can’t remember how old Akane was at 1983, but I’m pretty sure she’s not over 40.

I wonder why they’re going this far back in time though. Can't wait for this to be released~
