So telling your son to take care of your issues on your own is good parenting? Kinda hard to see that as that same line could be spoken by a total stranger on the street. Being strict doesn't always equals good. Still think he should have showed some support.

Kyouhei was cool, wanting to protect Sensei on his own. I love how he is shy among girls but still says what he wants to say, or at least tries really hard. And Kyouhei's father is a bit of an ass. His parental support is rather blank. Was he blackmailed or something as he kinda hangs on the rules a bit too much...?
Nobody in this thread called her a slut. Quite the contrary, in fact. She came across as a very flawed yet sympathetic character.

Regarding Kyohei's father, he's basically what Kyohei would have become had Aki not come back in his life - Somebody who would rather run away and turn a blind eye to unpleasant things rather than face them. He's doing whatever he can not to get involved in the village's affair even it concerns his family (he was told he possibly has another son and he didn't give a damn).

For the particular situation? Sure. Kyohei's no average kid. He's been entrusted with both power and responsibility so it isn't unreasonable to give him more autonomy.

He's just not serious about his desire to protect Chihaya in the first place, and dad called him on it. He says he is, but he is afraid of confrontation. How exactly does he expect that to work out? Then when dad says no, he does nothing. He doesn't go see the principle, he doesn't go see Atsuhi, he doesn't request an audience or a conference regarding the matter or anything. So if he's not going to commit to anything, why should his father?

Kyohei lost cool points this episode, especially considering that he still has the temerity to be irate with Aki at this point.

So I finally came to catch up with KD and watched episode 5 to 7.
Episode 7 was really intense and I like this episode a lot.

I loved Aki from the very beginning but now I do so even more and I pity him so much.
He seemed to have an affection for his sensei, or was it love? Not really sure.
May I ask how old Aki was supposed to be? Does someone know this?

Man, I can't wait for the next episode >_<

Kids must learn to be responsible for their actions as well as independant. He was in middle/high school, having under his control a machine that can kill scores... I guess it's about time stop being a chicken, running to his parents for help.

By the way, as the show progresses it becomes more like a light version of Narutaru, ep.7 included.

Episode 7 was the part in the manga that really elevated my expectations of the series. It's just a shame it's only 13 episodes. Yamamura Hajime is a pretty good author and his series really should be animated to the fullest.

It is explained but unfortunately, it's a little later in the manga and there's a chance it may not be animated.

I'm kind of hoping we see more of Aki. He's much more interesting than Kyohei imo.
I actually wondered about this when I got to this point in the manga. The general feeling I got was that Kyohei is someone that has strong beliefs despite having the personality of a wuss. His reason for leaving the village in the end was in part because he was fed up with everything that was happening. Watching as the village stood by and let these things occur for example. In regards to Aki, I think he realizes that Aki has the element of kindness in him but ultimately is antagonistic because of Aki's attitude towards what's happening and the actions he took. Aki was a victim, yes, but that doesn't give him any sort of justification to go out and go on a murderous rampage. This is probably why Kyohei acts that way towards him.

Frankly, a person with insane potential powers appealing to authority rather than taking it into his own hands is pretty much the most mature, sensible thing that they could do. 'Independence' by those who use disproportionate power is 'rampancy.'

Not really, unless you mean on a very superficial level.

Kyohei's father is simply not courageous enough to take a real stand here... but frankly, neither is Kyohei himself, and both of them know that they're both this way.

This is why they're pissed off with one another.

Kyohei's dad is thinking 'Why are you expecting me to put my neck on the line when you're not willing to put your own neck on the line?'

Kyohei himself is projecting on his father, and likely hates himself a bit for being like his dad in this regard.

Personally, I think that both are equally flawed when it comes to this, which is why I'm not terribly sympathetic to Kyohei raging at his dad.

Nail on the head. Sensei was a broken person. She was a victim of unfortunate events that ended up sending her to the middle of nowhere, a town where not being one of "them" meant you weren't worth anything at all. Of course she's going to identify with Aki. Not only does he remind her of the child from her past, but she also reminds him of how broken she is as well.

What she and Aki did have wasn't love, it was comfort. She found a kindred spirit who could understand her pain, and for a time her presence brought Aki some comfort and happiness as well. It's not the best of foundations for a serious relationship though. She probably would have finished packing and left the village and Aki with it, if she hadn't been kidnapped that night.

It's a tragic story, the more you think about it. So much could have been prevented but people were more worried about rules and order than they were about helping others in trouble. The only person who seemed to give enough of a damn, Kyohei, felt impotent despite all his power, trapped by the same rules of the town that gave him that power. In the end he leaves the village in disgust.

So the question I have, after all of this, is why the trees showed Hibino that vision.

I might be wrong, but I think she read moyako mind/memories. So basically moyako was showing her aki, not the trees. If i understand correctly the trees are a network, that can joints up the people minds, when they are connected physically. Probably reason why kyohei didn't want to join them.

That said, Senou was drawn to Aki because she felt she could relate with him. He was isolated, and he had sin. She felt more comfortable with him, since he cannot judge her for her flaws as well.

As for the episode, it mentioned that the Kuga family and the Hyuuga family were the two strongest leading family. However, it sees quite unequal with the amount of Kamisama Dolls between the two families. The Kuga family only looks like they have one, while the Hyuuga family appears to have 4 active ones, plus 1 in hibernation. Why is there such a disparity?

Err, did you read me right? There's more to go in the story. It should be animated but the manga isn't done yet.

It's going to be 13 episodes and we can't change that, but I think it definitely deserves a 2nd season so it can remain a faithful adaptation to the manga rather than getting an original (and probably disappointing) ending, because it sure is doing it well so far.
Not to diss anything else that's airing currently, but Kamisama Dolls really stands out as the worthy show right now, in my opinion. Which is great because it didn't give me such good vibes at the beginning, but I guess it goes to prove one should never judge a book by its cover.

Is it Tuesday yet ?

Btw, I caught a point about Hibino on page 22 I hope it's not too late to elaborate on :

Actually I'm not sure about that. Ever since she appeared in the first episode I didn't know what to make of this character. Just like you guys say, she doesn't seem to be a fanservice based character, and besides, this definitely isn't that kind of anime. Then again, that makes you wonder why they'd give her such big assets to begin with. It's ok to have a big chested girl character, but they could still do it without having to go that far. Yet as you say, there isn't so much focus on that part of her design and I too thought it was ok. A bit clumsy of a design in such a serious show, but ok nonetheless.
However, I noticed the air stripping scene from episode 6 wasn't actually featured in the manga. It's a blatant fanservice scene they didn't have to include, yet they decided to do so. It's a bit puzzling, cause right after that we got the see through shirt under the rain scene, so it felt a bit like overkill. (that scene was in the manga though).
So yeah. Maybe the staff aren't sure of what to do with the character, but I wouldn't say for sure she isn't going to go down that path just yet. Time will tell I guess.

Actually, that scene is from Vol. 4 of the manga (seg. 19). The anime sometimes changes the timeline of the manga, probably due to pacing problems, but it's been quite faithful so far. In the manga, Kyouhei told Hibino about Sensei while Kukuri was being repaired, so that scene happened after the flashback.

That aside, I took a look at some preview pics for episode 8 and it seems they're not gonna skip the beach training (or vacation??) filler chapter. Now I'm not sure where, or how they're gonna end this series (maybe trolling us with the second flashback? )

The ideal man is someone with a wild side but is also a family man.

Common belief that it's much easier to tame a wild man than to do the opposite and make a "nice" guy more interesting. You see, being called "nice" by a woman is not a compliment. It means that you have no other interesting features worth mentioning. What, do you think of Bob? Oh... he's nice....

And no, it's not just emotionally damaged girls who think like that.

Wow so why is Kyohei the main character? Everything I saw in this episode showed him to be a complete wimp with no backstory. I sure as hell hope he has a better reason as to why he stopped being a Seki other than that. This story barely involved him and I was hoping for something more related to him for such a huge plot point. Aki has a much better story than Kyohei does at this point.

Then Kyohei has the balls to beat Aki despite Aki actually being somewhat in the right.

Not to mention the way Aki was talking, it seemed like Kyohei had gone off the rails at a certain point too.

You are right. Solace misunderstood that scene. It was Moyako's memories that Hibino saw.

Well I had mentioned earlier that the animation staff are probably having fun with Hibino, the fact that the manga-ka made her size so big makes it animation fodder, especially when the budget doesn't spend so much time animating them, which I believe is why her size seems to change so much because we don't see them bounce, they've been static for a large part of this series

That and, Utao and her have been the subject of the posters of late, so perhaps there'll be more posters of those 2
