I thought the movie was good enough. Decent plot and good action, what more can you ask of a shounen movie, a Bleach one to boot? My main gripe was that the villains' designs were absolutely horrendous.
He wasn't after Ichigo's little sisters.....
He just wanted them so he could force Ichigo to all Ultra hollow on him

First off Ikkaku is FUNNY...Like most hige's^^...

Second Ikkaku is or can be bada$$ even when he's getting his a$$kicked (a rare quality)...Ikkaku has a base fighting style that is enjoyable by itself, so he doesn't have to go bankai to be cool, but when he does go bankai, it's wild and crazy (My jaw dropped the first time I saw his bankai)...Not just one standard move either...

Renji is ALWAYS getting his a$$ kicked (see this movie) and is NEVER funny, and like you said he has the lamest, most overdone, most tired bankai in the show (Only second to Rukia who has somehow bored her bankai to tears even despite just introducing it only like a hundred eps ago)...He has no extra sword techniques...No shiki's, he's $hitty at spells and "Hooowl Zabimaru" might be in my top 5 most hated things to hear in all of anime...If I had a roll-my-eyes-meter based on hearing it that $hit would win a telethon for meeting NO-FUNraising goals...

Bro he's Krillen, although I actually like Krillen, so he might be Yajirobe...

I do give you probs though, because I've been on this site for like 7 years and I never heard anyone say they really like Renji, so +1 for that...

I don't think kanon was implying that. Kanon is just saying that the villain went to hell because he went around killing little sisters so that other guys could feel the pain he felt.

Well... like that Ikkaku is also lame because his shikai has only to functions:
1) Spear to stab people
2) Falls apart like chucks and stabs again

Could be called as one function actually... =/
Bankai... From what I remember it was one functioned too, it just spins around his head and then when it is charged it hits with extra power... How this weapon is ultimately cool and technique vary is beyond me

Don't get me wrong, I do like Ikkaku and Renji did get boring by now (I used to like him a lot) but your explanation backstabs you as well.

P.S. Rukia doesn't have bankai.

Ummm, his bankai LOOKS COOL (which is half the battle in shonen-fighter)..And like I said, his base brand of fighting is very erratic, making his bankai fighting equally erratic which I also enjoy …That $hit is way cooler than a big plastic mardi gras snake…

Now again, just to note, I’m just saying Ikkaku >>> Renji…Not that Ikkaku is my favorite alltime character or whatever…Just that I would prefer him to Renji, especially in this movie…Because Renji is a spaz with no cool moves…

As for Rukia, I meant her special ice-move is lame...Seen it so much I guess I just considered it bankai...

He went to Hell cause he killed a man after that man killed his sister. Nothing about him using his pain on others he just felt confused after going to Hell I mean all it did was make him go crazy. He couldn't take it he didn't feel he deserved it and technically he didn't. Ichigo though was acting as if he knew Kokutoo as if he knew his little sister. When Ichigo didn't really know anything about Kokutoo. He wanted to avenge his sister that is true. Is Ichigo really any diffrent. On that note it felt like I was listening to Naruto.

Renji is funny...he makes me laugh way more than Ikkaku does. Fillers actually make his bankai look pretty powerful. It's not that I am tired of it...okay that's a lie, I am tired of it but only because I want to see a new move

Er..Ikkaku has only ever won ONE fight..against Edorad. He lost every other time he's ever fought. Renji has actually had more wins them him....granted it was 1 more win than him but it's still more than Ikakku

I do like baldy's bankai. It's hot compared to Renji's which looks like a child's toy.

I would much prefer Renji over Ikkaku

Only her third dance is LAME...caps because that's just how bad it is

Her other attacks look stronger than Hitsu's...at least she can kill with it. At the most, a mild case of hypothermia is all you're gonna get from Hitsu

I was very excited about this movie, as I usually find Bleach movies entertaining, but then something happened.

After watching about 30 minutes, I suddenly got really bored and just skipped heavily through it towards the end, I wasn’t even interested in the plot, but understood most of it just out from bits and pieces of the different dialogues.

I’m not sure if I’ve gotten too jaded, or if Bleach has gotten worse, but I feel like I’ve seen all this before.

-Ichigo fighting? Seen it before.
-Captains fighting? Seen it before.
-Bad guys with special powers? Seen it before.
.Ichigo’s family or friends being put in danger somehow? Seen it before.
-Matsumoto’s boobs? Okay I’ll watch that any time.

I’ve seen all this before. While some of the fighting scenes were indeed sweet (loved the remake of Ichigo vs Ulqiorra), it’s just old, I crave something new and interesting, but Bleach just never changes.

I think what bothers me the most is that Bleach is always about power, never anything else. They want Ichigo because of his power, and Ichigo uses this power to fight, he also requires the power of his friends so that they can fight the enemy which also have power, then comes captains with their power to battle the opponents power, and the morale of the story is that power is everything and those with the most power wins.

It’s Ichigo vs Aizen all over again, which was all about power, man don’t even get me started.

Meh…

^ Well you've just described what's wrong with Bleach as an institution, nevermind a manga, or TV series...

Bleach is a baseball card anime…It’s not the game...It would be easier to criticize this if the property hadn’t blatantly embraced the fact it’s all about it’s characters in Gap clothing then it is about any particular subject matter…Even when it was ripping the hell out of YuYu Hakusho it still oddly skimped out on the goal oriented part of the storyline (I.E. Aizen’s goal of making everything an equal playing field like Shinobu Sensei being TOTALLY ABANDONED)…

So basically the main villain of your anime was a pedo who watched a teenage boy on his TV for 7 anime-years, instead of this epic character who had done a lot of effed up stuff that actually had meaning in the end…A greater cause! Then the bastard FINALLY admitted to it only seconds before Urahara sealed his a$$!! That one conversation between Urahara and Aizen , SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE CRUX AND SHAPE of the entire series, instead it was a throwaway sentence about the soul king…

I’ve come to accept the fact that Bleach is the music video for the band that doesn’t exist..It’s the fashion show for clothes that’ll never make the consumer line, it’s bull$hit…But within that fact, if it gives me a great deal of fight porn and light comedy I am willing to take these faults because it has honestly conditioned me toward that end…So I can enjoy this movie and still understand that Bleach is kinda $hitty in every area but the area it excels at…And that’s the Bubblegum Card aspect where you never know which cool –looking mofo you’re gonna get kicking a$$ when you open up a pack…

But don’t open the Renji pack…

At first look it was practically the same as the first episode of Bleach. Only a few minutes after that thought you'll realize it's not. Ichigo was seemingly taking a break from shinigami life, but not for long because trouble always finds him quickly! Going to & through hell was pretty awesome. Fighting scenes were really nicely done and the enemies along the way were unusual and pretty challenging. Ichigo snapping in hell was a memorable thing to see. His ultimate hollow version was amazing. Also, there were some serious emotions running wild after their return from hell as well as the overwhelming guilt for destroying the gates. Going once wasn't enough, the return trip brought yet another fight with Kokuto but saving friends was totally worth it. This was an awesome Bleach movie without a boring second in it, worth watching all the way!

1st movie was my favorite because it had an interesting story with some mystery, a good new character Senna who actually was interesting and made you feel for her. Some nice action and not only for Ichigo. And also without annoying power ups.
Agreed totally. I am disappointed by the movie as a whole, but some small parts were nice.

-The movie team made Orihime a bit more open to Ichigo which was good.
-SS wasn't involved in fighting.
-Ichigo's semi-hollow transformation with long hair and hollow eyes is awesome

but

- Most lame villains ever
- Movie was boring plot wise
- Hell theme was kinda wasted

I know I fast forwarded through most of the movie, but I definitely did not pick up on him just killing that one man. I thought he said something about him realizing that killing that man wouldn't bring back his little sister, so he set out to let everyone out experience the same pain he felt (??)

Please tell/show me where you gathered your info/ came to your conclusion/interpretation because I'm still a little bit lost, sorry!

i havent been that active resently due to serious limitations being put on my internet time/going anywhere near a computer at all by my parents,
as a little special gift for you all i bring you
A message from Mr. Kubo himself about the movie
In this movie I was credited as "Executive Director".
However honestly speaking, for the DVD version I want that title to be removed.
I already asked them to do so. This is because I feel I didn't participate enough in the production of this movie to warrant such a title.

I already had this feelings since the premier of the theatre version, however when I met with the producer staff to persuade them, the movie was already in the editing process so it couldn't be removed.

I had a meeting with the scriptwriter - I think it was in the year preceding the movie premiere, in early summer.

The meeting was incandescent, and we discussed ideas until nearly dawn. The scriptwriter took careful notes of the ideas that I had contributed jointly during the meeting. The response was that we were able to come up with some very interesting stuff. I had the feeling that before winter at the latest the scenario would be completed - but in the end, the scenario was sent to me only in the spring of the year of the movie premiere. Furthermore, the scenario didn't contain any of the ideas of the meeting... apparently, the notes taken at that time were not transmitted to the director and to the other members of the staff.

Later on, we had some trouble with the production department agreeing to some changes decided by the scriptwriter, and the scriptwriter worked hard with the changes that were made - but unfortunately, there was no more time.

The fact that characters that first made their entry in the original work like Ichigo, Kokutou and Shuuren had a very Bleach-like feeling is thanks to all of the seiyuu that gave them their voices, and to all of the staff that drew them.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Spoiler for in japanese:

Heheh so none/most of kubo's ideas didnt get use used from the movie.

I actually liked the movie better then the other 3. I was kind of getting tired of the "I'm going to take out the Shinigami" stories. I thought it was interesting to for them use an aspect of story that was not really fully fleshed out in the manga or anime. I also just like to see insane bad guys, instead of ones who have the tragic past and they are really good inside. I felt that this movie was a very action kind of movie, with some emotional scenes with characters we know. Of course we know the main characters will be alright in the end, but I enjoyed seeing some of the emotional outbursts. Plus the humor in the story was more well-put in this movie IMO, especially in the end.
I liked this movie because it felt a lot more different then the other 3. It felt kind of like a relief that they were trying something different, and included a lot action scenes that didn't involve the Shinigami world too much. I've kind of grown tired of almost every story in Bleach, involving the Gotei 13, and then they have to rely on Ichigo to do something about it. But in this case it almost seems like the opposite, where Ichigo needed the help of the Soul Society to help him. Not to mention Ichigo butting into affairs involving the Gotei 13. In this story, it actually felt like Ichigo belonged in the story. He wasn't just some 'secret' weapon the Gotei 13 were saving, he was the center of attention here. Even better, the story strikes Ichigo right at home, and gets him more emotional then he could ever be with some stranger. It was the first movie to feel like an actual 'Bleach' movie to me. So far, this one is my favorite out of the 4 movies.

A good idea would be to actually watch the movie lol then you wouldn't be so lost.

Kokutoo did say that. Of course he would the guy had become insane from his life in Hell. He believed he didn't deserve Hell so he thought y should he have to suffer alone. It makes a lot of sense if u think about it even though doing this would have gotten him nowhere. If there is one gogod thing about Bleach it is the idea that the charcter's personalities are highly realistic. Some people can relate. Imagine that u got locked up in Hell for a crime that u thought was righteous and not evil. Wouldn't you eventually go insane.

When I think about what Kokutoo did I can't help but compare it to what Light and Lelouch did. And even then what Kokutoo did was a minor what even made Kokutoo do evil things was his insanity. I felt bad for the guy through the movie. Ichigo couldn't even understand his feelings even though Ichigo himself has tried to use vengeance as well. Instead of allowing the guy to stay in Hell in which he will just become crazier y not help the guy realize what he did wasn't good.

I'm kinda disappointed after seeing this film. Whilst it was certainly nice to hear Tohru Furuya's distinctive voice again (One of my favourites after hearing him in Casshern Sins), there wasn't much else to like. The story was basically all action and a minimal amount of depth, and most of the action that we saw is what we've already seen. At some points they were just complete copies of manga fights, such as Rukia's fight with the tentacle dude, and Ichigo going berserk again.

The hell world was actually an interesting concept where the morality of it could've been explored but that never happened and then any potential was brutually killed off when "hell" decided to help Ichigo. How, I'm not entirely sure. That was the first thing that popped into my mind. Is the actual place "hell" a living entity or was there someone in charge up above that decided to help? It was yet again one of those gaping absence of information.

Not all that bothered about Yuzu actually getting better though (though probably because I expected it as a foregone conclusion...). I'm guessing "Hell" was responsible there too. Which would kinda make sense if it's supposed to be a part of justice, that would naturally mean it doesn't indiscriminantly cause anyone, especially the innocent to suffer. The film avoids the obvious trap of having the Satan rule over hell when he's actually supposed to suffer in Hell along with everyone else.

Of course it was nice to see Yamamoto enter and be a massive assface to Ichigo. He just learns that his innocent little sister's soul is forever trapped in hell and he decides to tell him it's all his fault and then explain how he's doomed the entire world aswell? Smooth. That kind of dickishness isn't really justified nor should it be tolerated, though I suppose it's nothing compared to the shit they usually do for seemingly no reason (Like letting Kurotsuchi get away with torturing people and using his own squad as sacrifices.)

But I can't say it wasn't boring either. Whilst it did jump head first into the conflict without so much as a build up, it did provide a certain degree of entertainment all throughout. For that I'll give it a 5/10.

So as it stands:
Memories of Nobody: 7/10
DiamondDust Rebellion: 6/10
Fade to Black: 4/10
Hell Chapter: 5/10

I only remember him defeating Szayel's brother as far as the manga story goes...

He lost to Ichigo twice, then to Byakuya, then to Aizen, and Szayel and Yammi
