Corona doesn't have a rocket punch.

Indeed, but in this chapter we also see the danger of the technique: Once you lose the surprise element, the tables are no longer turned.

Considering how easily Corona's golem is shattered by Einhart? Compared to how resilient she is when putting the golem inside of herself?

The minor increase in danger is very much an acceptable trade off for boosts in everything. Well, except, speed I guess?

In light of what Raiser just posted, at least she didn't fire it away exactly like the golem did.

Yet.

I can't really say that's much of a minus per se. She lost part of her advantage against Einhart, but that's no fault of her golem technique.

It's not that its a minus, it's more that it's no longer that big of a plus either. She almost beat Einhart, but how that Einhart knows what makes the technique tick, she can counter it. Which puts Corona in a big dangerzone.

AFAIR, that's more of a issue about her Strike Arts simply not being as good as Einhart's rather than any weakness of her golem arts. Well, and Einhart learning a little bit of caution about rushing in.

Although translation may yet reveal something about it, that I probably missed. Or on the other side, it could be like the introduced hybrid Intelligence Devices.

What I think was going on is that Einhart punched Corona as if she were punching a normal human. What she hit instead was the equivalent of a rock wall, something her punch wasn't prepared for. And since Corona is smaller, she's able to get through Einhart's defenses more easily.

Of course I base this entirely on the diagram Dieci was showing.

That's because she's superior ability in attack strength, but weak in close combat. But as soon as look at the last moment in Chapter 28, the status of the Squishy Wizard slowly become Lightning Bruiser.

At least we know that the earth element is able to beat the wind.

Anyone mind telling me why the summoning specialist is beating the close combat specialist in close combat?

Magic!

And now, speaking of which, wasn't it that Corona was described as being bad with magic? I really cannot imagine or see how that what she's doing is by any means the mark of unskilled.

I mean, I would be really puzzled if Caro never becomes one with Voltaire.

.......oh man. I was about to mention Lutecia and Garyu instead.

*shudder*

ugh

Let's not forget that Corona said that she was unskilled in magic before she got specialized one-on-one training with her golem magic meant to make her more capable just for this tournament. That she started out unskilled in magic doesn't mean she has to remain unskilled in magic.

Also we already did the Caro/Voltaire "becoming one" joke in the FFT. :V

I see it now as her being more uninitiated than being unskilled. She learned awfully, awfully quick. But really, that's something for the commentators to start mentioning how she's actually a diamond in the rough etc, really skilled etc, but AFAIK, they...aren't. At least, I don't think Otto is. Take with the customary grain of salt.

I doubt this sort of thing is possible (or at least far more complicated) with the more unique summons. Corona does make them herself, so that probably makes it easier.

Don't forget, Corona is not a summoner, totally different skillsets. She's more like an earthbender from the Avatar: the Last Airbender series.

Summons are creatures called from another place. Golems are made completely from scratch every time.

I never said that her golem arts suck, I merely said that this melee technique is one that relies rather greatly on the element of surprise, and once that surprise element is gone, it's no longer as useful. Einhart now pounding Corona shows this.
