Updated the CCCP player to the latest build (build 1.5.3.3514) on both the laptop and the old desktop with WinXP. Ran some animes that I was having problems with before on both the laptop and the desktop. Problem seems to be solved.

Or not. It seems to be mostly fixed, with the exception of a lot of artifacts surrounding and remaining on the screen around the subtitles. Only with the latest animes.
