Too general information to give you any suggestion, really.

Maybe you would want the following one:

Uncharted 1 & 2.
Valkyrie Chronicle.
Demon's Soul (not recommended if you are not a type who love to play hard and punishable game)
Killzone 2.
Metal Gear Solid 4 (of course, also not recommended if you haven't played the previous one and don't want to work your brain while playing )

You could just find PS3 exclusive to see any games that you interest.

pretty much everything eveones said here.

Demon souls is a HARD CORE DEATH Game, you will lose/ Get game over, A LOT! and is not a game to play if you have a bad temper problem and have nice expensive stuff in your house.

You need Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2. You might fancy yourself DJ Hero also.

rent uncharted and buy uncharted 2 (it's a game you will play again and the multiplayer coop is fairly fun)

demons souls - you will kinda go off and on with this game. It's amazing, but you really need to give it some time. After you get pretty far your first run you will be planning all sorts of builds, and pvping. Great little game

MW2 - great multiplayer action here. It's kinda frustrating sometimes but great fun.

borderlands - great game offline and online and they are constantly patching it. They actually just released a 360 patch with some great fixes and some skill changes plus it has a great graphical style.

Save your money and then in the new year...

FF13
GoW3
WKC
SO4 (maybe, the game isn't too great but I might not have given it enough time)
random titles that are bound to be good

You are getting a ps3 at the right time mate! Another thing you should definitively do is get yourself a mic and find some friends to play with online!

I don't think its a good idea recommending so many JP only games. I'm not sure if he lives in japan or not.

I forgot to mention one game tho, and this is a awesome game

(also try Persona 3 and 4)

1. Rachet and Clank - tools of destruction
2. Metal Gear Solid 4
3. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
all good games but heres a few more

Rachet and Clank A crack in time
Uncharted 2 Among Theives
Killzone 2
God of War collection in case you dont have them already
Little Big Planet
Resistance 1 and 2

Question

At first, I'm sorry for 'reviving' an old thread.

Well, I'm planning to get a PS3 within this upcoming 1-3 weeks. However I'm not sure which games should I give a shot outside the list below:

Spoiler for List of the games:

By the way, I prefer to play JRPG (except FF series), turn-based strategy (like SRW or SD Gundam franchise), some sports games (football / soccer or tennis, basketball is okay too), FPS (Playing on PC is better ) and racing games that focus on something like 'polices vs. illegal racers'. (Action-adventure, TPS, western-style RPG are the opposite )

Blazblue and Arcana Heart. They're anime style fighting games, if you're into that genre try them out they're great.

Don't know if you have other system I'll suggest getting exclusive

Uncharted series (I,II,III)
FFXIII - not exclusive but PS3 version is noticeably better.
Heavy Rain
Mod Nation Racer
Little Big Planet
Valkyria Chronicle
Metal Gear Solid 4
Disgaea 3,4

And make sure you got your parent to get you at least $50 of PSN card if you are into retro games

You should probably have made your own thread since I'm noticing a lot of the suggestions seem to be reading the OP only and are listing games that are in some cases completely the opposite of the criteria you listed.

Anyway, you may want to check out the Record of Agarest War series of JRPG/strategy games. I'm not personally a fan because there is a lot of grinding and they can get pretty tedious but comments from fans of the genre tend to be pretty positive and if you're a fan of Disgaea you'd probably enjoy them.

I would also recommend against Hyperdimension Neptunia unless you can get it used cheap or borrow it from a friend because it absolutely isn't worth the insane price it's currently going for. The gameplay and rpg elements are paper thin and even as a fan of cute girls doing cute things it was a struggle for me to get through. Can't speak for the sequel but I did hear that aspect was supposedly improved.
