If that were actually happen, it might also coincide with the launch of Natal.

If I'm not mistaken, the folks at MS once said that they plan to treat Natal as a relaunch of the console.

Zup here

Just to bring a news :

Quote:
Kudo Tsunoda, head designer of Microsoft's new motion camera Kinect is perhaps best known for his bold statements, in general. Well, here's another one: Kudo Tsunoda claims that hardly anyone plays FPS on the PC anymore. While he does have some fair points later on, that opening line is no doubt what will draw the most attention.

Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first-person shooters on the PC anymore,” said Tsunoda.

He went on to explain that “If you think about the way that first-person shooters evolved, they started on the PC.”

“People for the longest time tried to port shooters from the PC onto the console.”

“And people said the same things that they are saying now about Kinect – ‘It’s never going to be responsive enough to do this,’ or ‘You’re never going to get a fun first person shooter on the console’ – it’s only made for a keyboard and mouse and that is the way it is supposed to be played.’”

“And as long as everyone was just porting the existing shooters over to console, they weren’t as fun as the PC ones. Of course, they were built for the PC.”

As for his flagship product, Kinect, it launches November 4th in the US, and November 10th in Europe.

Well he is right at some point in that first sentence. At the moment most of the people play FPS on console because Halo: Reach just came out and a lot of people are enjoying it. I still think those types of games have better feeling with keyboard and a mouse in hand.

I agree. My skill with a mouse and keyboard is 10x better than that of a controller. However, sometimes it just wouldn't feel right. For me, playing Halo on the PC would seem very strange.

The only thing that could possibly beat the Mouse + Keyboard combo would have to be Virtual Sim or Mind Control [which I believe is currently being researched]. Plus, even when/if that happens, it'll be a hell of a job to wrestle the keyboard and mouse off me!

Nah, I love the controller in my opinion having to shift over such a large set of keys and the mouse to move and do other things as well as remember what every button has assigned to it breaks immersion.

Controllers much simpler, 4 buttons for pressing, 2 triggers (in shooters usually right shoots, left aim), 2 bumpers, 2 joysticks and a dpad all in one quite small specialised controller.

While you may sacrifice some interface for it I think it is worth it.

Well some people prefer driving automatic and other manual, up to the individual to decide, what kind of controls are best suited for them. I reckon people who played hexen, wolfenstein 3d and doom growing up on PC will always take kb+m before anything else. You can tell them how great autoaim and other feature are, but they will always prefer having complete control.

Steel Battalion Heavy Armor

Capcom's Steel Battalion makes a comeback, but ditches massive control station. read more on siliconera
Instead of using the awesome controller, see xbox game, this time it will use a combo between kinect and control pad. Other change is game is being developed by everybodys darling (this gen at least), From Software. In case you don't know who From Software is, they are known for King's Field series, Demon's Souls, A.C.E. series, Armored Core series, Lost Kingdoms series and a lots more.

I was quite excited when I first saw the trailer for the new SB since I had the original which monster controller but I was a little disappointed to hear it was kinect based since I don't have nor plan on buying a kinect unit.

I want another silly big controller =[

Exclusive(?) Grasshopper Manufacture game for Kinect shown.
Famitsu.com has some pictures up.
The game was formally known as Codename D, but now the official title has been unveiled as Diabolical Pitch.

This is actually more of a Rock Band 3 question but I didn't want to start a new thread.

Is there a way to have the game just *play* the tunes with your assigned band members? Like a 'demo' or 'idle' mode (jukebox maybe?)? Without the frets/colors/etc. Its actually kind of entertaining watching the band but when you're gaming it - there's not a lot of time to look. This would be nice for parties, etc.

No matter how I frame the question via google, so far I've gotten nothing but search responses unrelated to my question (which just tells me I'm using the wrong key words).

Update: okay, I've cobbled together the notion of
1) Set to World Tour mode (maybe with a setlist)
2) Play single as vocals
3) No-fail ON
4) Crowd sounds OFF
5) Performance mode ON

Does that sound like it'll work (I'll test it when I get a chance).

You mean a jukebox mode of sorts, Sir Vexx? I don't believe Rock Band has such a feature, but you could substitute it by turning on "No Fail", turning off background noise in the options menu, and playing the vocals part in performance mode. I would think that would work just as well.

Okay.. that sounds somewhat like my guesses. Will give that a try, thanks.

Use Kinect controls in cave's Instant Brain. The game itself is an adventure game, think VN/eroge direction, not platfomer or 3d bashing people collection items kind of adventure.
Over on andriasang.com yoiu can find how kinect controls are used for this game. It is about time that these kind of games start using kinect.
Make sure to check the homepage and the screenshots.

Figured I'd very lightly bump this up for a second.... it seems Fable III is now Free on Xbox Live. Whether this is an error on Microsoft's part or not... now's your chance to download it~
