Guido: since you're making the Eureka Seven analogy, I'd add:

Spoiler for Eureka Seven:

But yeah, all in this show is adorably campy in a way that reminds me of Lost, actually (aside from the american comic book analogy from earlier): heavily-tropey situational dramas and stereotypes layered against a mysterious background. Not an exact analogy but a similar feel: it feels like you know exactly what's going on b/c of the tropes, but if you think about it more you don't know as much as you thought.

The whole Inori jumping scene left me unsure if this show really is that campy, or if we're supposed to start thinking "wow, Inori is actually kinda scary nuts, isn't she?" Inori going surprise yandere would be a great twist.

I really do wonder when Shu is going to use that tracker. Since Gai hardly seems interested in building any kind of trust or positive emotions period between him and Shu. Hardly seems like will take too much other than a morally questionable mission for Shu to take action. Doesn't help when Shu is with him mostly because he has almost no other options.

A new information has appeared on official site. I'll try to do a quick translation for now:

Apocalypse Virus
New unknown virus that has been discovered in Japan. The exact mechanism is unknown but the infection causes the crystallization of the body. Symptoms are divided into "stages", and Yahiro's brother from the Episode 4 has the "fourth stage" of it. The regular vaccination has been developing to prevent the infecion, and Japanese people are required to be vaccined.

The Lost Christmas case
Occurred in December 2029, an explosion of Apocalypse virus infection in Roppongi, and the consequent riots. For the occurrence of this incident, in Roppongi peacekeeping forces are introduced by multinational forces. The Japanese government has only given up to resolve the country, marked the beginning of the subsequent interim government of Japan by GHQ.

Roppongi 4
The Lost Christmas scene was the Roppongi district, made a complete blockade quarantine by multinational forces. Since the incident, the Japanese government relinquished administration of this district, conditions such as air pockets that do not belong to any national law. While residents from inside of the Fort are not allowed to leave outside, they also are not been vaccinated. As depicted in Episode 2, Antibodies used this blockade quarantine to start attack.

GHQ
Multinational forces stationed in Japan in time of Lost Christmas, then received a delegation from the Japanese government as an executive power. The United Nations was formed after the vote it received, the interim government organization in Japan = GHQ. Police and local governments in Japan have been maintained, state-level administrative and decision are made by the GHQ.

Antibodies
Special Protection Forces of GHQ. The official name is "Special Virus Disaster Management Bureau" and Shuichiro serves as a director. Has its own chain of command different from Multinational Forces GHQ and it's troops are dedicated to fight the "Apocalypse (virus)". Has exclusive authority to quarantine people infected with the certification, in some cases even culling order to perform in the field, residents of the Fort are feared of them and call them "white coats".

District 24
Mega structure (gigantic structure) built on a reclaimed land in Tokyo Bay. Home of the Anti-Bodies and the GHQ along with the interim government, administration and military, virus research facilities such as a virus research facilities are aggregated in that city-on-the-sea. This majestic tower stands in the territories formerly known as Odaiba, and is said to be a symbol of after-Lost-Christmas Japan.

Funeral Parlor
Resistance organization seeking for the release of Japan from GHQ. Headquartered in Roppongi Fort has where is so many young people or organizations. Basically, its existence was hidden as an underground organization, and in response to invasion of Roppongi Fort in Episode 2 , the existence of the organization was announced. It's leader is Tsutsugami Gai, who have advanced equipment and organizational skills to counter the Antibodies.

Void genome
Developed by Sefirah Genomics, it brings a mysterious substance known as "The power of a King". The user of "the ability of the King" can pull an object from human's body called "Void". According to the words of Tsutsugami Gai from Episode 2, "it analyses "intron code" of the human's genome and by the pwoer hidden within it can be derived by changing the Void." There are several conditions which are necessary to draw the Void: "people under 17 years" and "eye contact from the other" were reported to be needed in Episode 2.

Sefirah Genomics
Are responsible for such basic research of and vaccine manufacturing for the Apocalypse Virus, is a multinational pharmaceutical company which has close ties with GHQ and Antibodies. It's laboratory in 24th District has succeded in the production of the three Void genomes. Ouma Shu's mother Haruka is a Senior researcher of this laboratory.

This is really a very-very bad translation so I hope that anybody knowledgeable in japanese language could edit this text or retranslate it.

Here are the Endlave mechs from Guilty Crown.

Gautier, the Endlaves the GHQ use.

Jumeau, the Endlave Ayase used before it was destroyed by Daryl.

So far the Endlave Steiner, Daryl's Endlave before it was stolen and became Ayase's, has yet to appear on the official website.

On another note, i can't stop listening to this particular song when Shu pulls out a Void and becomes a badass. It's so good. The song i'm talking is the one that begins in the PV ad below.

In a show that cared more attention to story details, the characters would assume that the transmitter would give off a signal without any input.

Gai said as much in episode 2. No mention whether their powers are the same or not.

Yet every time this point has been brought up hasn't it been quickly countered with the thinking that a constant signal would be detectable? They won't get anywhere if Shu is detected giving off a constant signal without any input.

Isn't a constant signal would be easily detected by Tsumugi? There is a tech specialist in the funeral parlor and even Gai is in constant vigilance when meeting Shu in episode 3. He ask if someone is following them.

They could detect the signal quickly which is exactly why he gave one that needed to be activated once he got near him. If he put an active one on him right away, they would have sweeped him for devices and saw the signal. I don't see why it's a big issue with you guys.

Even if he later activates it and they find it and disable it, the signal will still have pinpointed their position. Or more likely it would be a burst signal on a periodic schedule.

Even if we assume the dubious assertion that a ragtag terrorist group is going to be able to detect anything that the GHQ can transmit, who said anything about a constant signal? There's tons of ways to bypass any of those problems - the easiest is to just have the transmitter be inert until a full day has passed, or once a day, or on receiving a signal. And even that's sort of besides the point.

In a properly constructed show where this kind of detection is possible, the terrorists would be taking percautions. They wouldn't even bother scanning and remove anything the rescued prisoners had on their persons; all the way down to their clothing. Depending on the technology involved, even a stomach pump might be prudent.

Gai's team has no real concept of caution, much less vigilance. They just happen to win because their opposition.

I must learn what the name of the song that is played during the action scenes, it goes very well with the anime.

The way Funeral Parlor is treating him, you can't blame him for doubting the decisions he's making, and by taking the transmitter with him, it certainly adds to the story, otherwise it would be another 'good team vs bad team and eventually the good team wins' scenerio. By taking the transmitter, it open paths that we can only guess Shu will take.

It also opens up narrative and path splits in the visual novel. I can imagine the transmitter will be a chekhov's gun if anything else.

But yeah, I actually like Shu. He is pretty plain but his indecisiveness is realistic. I also haven't seen him angst yet so I don't think I can really categorize him as the typical whimp.

I'd also would like to know the name of the song that plays during those action scenes. Totally badass.

It really is a great song. Just open up the latest episode every now and then to listen to that song again .

It definitely leaves open some options and possibilities for where things could go. Every situation they run into now can leave you wondering if Shu will use it or not. If Gai goes too far in Shu's mind that could be it. Could also see Shu forgetting about it for some time long as everything goes well.

Can't imagine though that he'll never use it. Probably just a matter of time. Or could just have it eventually found on Shu (after he's forgotten it existed for a long time) which could create some conflict by itself. Even if it's not sending out a constant signal if he drops it or something it could be checked out.
