I thought since the image came from the official OAD site itself it should have been fine ^^;. Well I'll edit my post and add more warnings.

I laughed so much when Zaruko asks Hime how many people there are in the town and Hime turns around to look at Kyousuke and he does sign fingers to let her know. xDD

My obvious opinion on the character designs aside, this was a very good episode. It's some of the best material from the manga, so i'm glad it's getting the treatment it deserves.

November 9... so far. It cant' be helped with this format.

By the way great episode. I've nothing to complain about : they did a great job specially with Zakuro I think.
Animation was gorgeous with many good scenes (Hime spinning her pole is lovely) but Shingo Yamashita has sure done the most beautiful scene (Kotoha vs Zakuro) even if the hammer part may lack of inertia but it doesn't really matter since it's very nice and impressive.

It looks the OAD doesn't really sell... 74% off on Amazon.jp. The second OAD package is as nice as the 1st one and comes with a character song CD but only 2 tracks and its instrumental versions. I'd have prefered full versions of OP & ED.

The second OAD was fantastic. The action scenes were wonderful to watch.

Oh man, 74% off the first OAD on amazon.jp?! Maybe I should cancel my cdjapan order... But it's really sad to hear that they may not be selling well =(. I still hope the later arcs get animated as well seeing how this is labelled OAD Series 001. Thanks for the picture, I can't wait for mine to start shipping. I wanna hear those chara songs!

I advise you against canceling because it's only the 1st OAD which's on sale and Amazon.jp has crazy shipping costs.

Ah, why they ditched Suzuhito's character designs in the anime... oh! wait it's because that guy from Birdy is behind this... which means a lot of animation, but ugly looking. Well, that issue aside everything else is as good as it could be.

EDIT: and since I'm rewatching the first episode... ah! I need more Yae

^That series 001 in the opening title looks very promising

But, the art is getting worse (or is it just because they included all the animated scenes of the coming episode); anyway still that's better than the horrible storytelling of the TV adaption, even with better art

Finished the third OAD. Really good animation as usual but I feel Kotoha's flashy battle is still the best. Regardless, the choreography is great to watch plus almost everyone got their time to shine. Having adjusted to the art I found there to be lots of really nice shots.

Spoiler for OAD 3 screenshots + impressions:

The extra live special featuring the voice cast was fun to watch too. Some of those challenges were so absurd and one-sided.

The next LE volume is unfortunately not an OAD Series 002 but I'm still hoping that they'll get around to making more, especially since the next arc focuses on two characters I really like.

I have to say, this Yozakura OAD series has definitely gotten me interested in watching Ryochimo's Birdy now. At least with that one the character designs won't be an initial hurdle for me anymore.

Megumi Kouno has a refined & dynamic style and she tends to draw curved shapes in her effects. Her recent work was probably Shu taking the void in Guilty Crown 5. If you want to see more of her work, watch Houkago no Pleiades which has plenty of her cuts but the series isn't so interesting, it's just beautiful.
You're right, Yae sparkled in the 1st OAD

Next arc as OAD would be cool indeed but I still think they should have made a TV series.
I'm sure Birdy will please you if you enjoyed animation of Yozakura Quartet specially the second series which's really great. Noein (ryochimo isn't the designer but did many scenes) is also awesome stuff in the same spirit. Those two series aren't only well animated series but also great SF series.

I don't know if it's worth creating a new thread for this, so:

New OAD series "Tsuki ni Naku" announced!

Praying real hard the same staff as Hoshi no Umi is on board and for closer designs to the manga (but even if they keep ryochimo's style it doesn't matter as long as the animation remains awesome).

Enjin has definitely corrupted her. I thought at the end she would revert back but then Enjin through in a power up. Nice to see Hime bring Kotoha under control. I agree the part where she asks Kyousuke for the amount was funny. So this is supposed to be closer to the manga, but i'm upset that there's not enough Ao since she's my favorite. Also enjoyed them leaving Toka behind. __________________ My Anime List

Scenes like Hime running on the telephone wire or the Hime & Akina combo or just Zakuro's powers in general were really dynamic and fluid. I really like how they depicted Zakuro crawling like a lizard. Couple those with some really cute scenes (Ao, HNNNNGG) and it really captures the spirit of the manga and makes it more alive (Which is the point of animating something in the first place). The additional stylistic touches like overly saturated and colourful Ao telepathy scene or the monochrome towards the end is also noteworthy. Bonus: Spoiler for Size: The extra live special featuring the voice cast was fun to watch too. Some of those challenges were so absurd and one-sided. Spoiler for OAD 3: I agree Kotoha's scene in the 2nd OAD is difficult to dethrone However it still was very good with a lot of nice effects and layouts. I really love how they put so much work on Zakuro. She moves so well and her powers are dynamic and fluid (I suspect Megumi Kouno in charge of the best effects shots) as you said. Many details were pleasant and funny specially some facial expressions (Ao). I agree Ao's telepathy scene is priceless ! Probably ryochimo's work. My only regret was Yae's fight which wasn't animated. Zakuro in qipao... __________________ Twitter
