but you are aware that there are "translations" for the "raws of c345-6" out like for 2weeks now... right ??

some people (like myself) were not that patient to wait for scanlation... they are 2chapters behind and next chap 347 gets out in next week... so kinda hard to wait and simple see the raw with translation first... and then the scanlation is out I relook it again ^^

Chapter 347 are out and in it:

It looks like Negi has managed to copy the technique that Eva used in the Mahora Tournament organized by Chao. You know the one she used against Setsuna in their match, I don't remember it's name, anyway Negi managed to subdue Ku-fei using that.

His next opponent has been Chisame, which soon turns into a

Chisame vs Chachamaru conflict, which ended in a draw with both of them without clothes... (It seems that Chachamru used her kill-sat and it's beam has stripped them both)

During that confrontation, Negi managed to "accidentally" meet Asuna and the chapter ends with the "rioters" probably thinking what to do now that Asuna has taken the task of "protecting Negi"

for Chisame
1. it is Chisame who hack into Iskandar to fire, and to punch Negi.
2. Chacha is on Negi's side, after taking control (reverse hack.), correctly deducted that Chisame is one of the girls who need to confess just like Yue.
(which is why Yue's confession is a MUST at the beginning, without it the rest would not follow.)
3. of course Chisame pays back Chacha by stating her own purpose for being Negi's secretary is not pure, either.
4. Chisame vs Chacha, even (naked)
(I quite like this chapter's Chacha, much more expressive, almost like one with playful bad intentions which you seldom sees from a pure heart robot.)

for Asuna
1. she is on Negi's side.
2. hey, "I am your original first pactio, K. Asuna."
(take notes, NOT princess.)

but guess what, Kazumi is spreading the news of the Cheers Squad info to the rest of 3A, that Negi has someone in mind.

right now you can tell Ken is purposely trying to shift some of the advantages of Asuna so the story would be interesting and unpredictable, (or as Sakurako stated, not boring.) and having her not as the last girl is a step toward that, but pretty much the girl Negi will be with 100 years from now is Asuna, that is never in doubt in my mind, so what are the 3A girls fighting for now is for the coming 100 years, and I really do foresee a harem end for now, but in sequence, some people will take turn, with the longer life nonhuman (Chacha, Setsuna, Mana) for the later half of the 100 years,

there is one page in volume Zero shows exactly which girls are interested in Negi, Chisame and Chacha are one group, Makie and Ako are another one, then of course there are Setsuna and Konoka, and Yue and Nodoka, did I mention I think Nodoka will be the last girl to show up for this arc? of course, Anya and Nekane are after thoughts, I really do wish Ken takes care some of the magic related people before the sports festival arc begins, (yes! more fillers!) so we can know more about Anya, Fate's Ministra. and tomb keeper, etc. but you can tell Ken is doing this on purpose, oh well.

there are still quite a few girls whom had not declare themselves, Chizuru, Yotsuba, Hakase, Mana, etc. right now I wonder how Ken would use them in this arc, my bet is all 30 girls will be featured one way or another, no matter how brief or how long they appear.

a fun arc that is getting more interested.

I kinda wonder if the REAL reason why Ken Akamatsu is doing this first has more to do with the fact that he's saving the "good" stuff (i.e. stuff related to magic-related people) until chapter 350, and that the current storyline (and for that matter, most of the breather period in general) was a way to "pad" things out until then. Face it, it feels like he's been doing this type of thing (padding things until a chapter divisible by 50) ever since the Magic World Arc:

1. Outside of the ones that where close enough for Chachamaru to pick up, he didn't begin to show what happened to the non-stowaway Ala Alba members until chapter 200;

2. The Negi/Rakan fight was pretty much drugged out until chapter 249, with that chapter focusing on the conclusion of the fight (and Ako, Akira, and Natsumi being freed from their slave duties);

3. The Poyo storyline (more specifically, her artifact) came off as something to halt the real start of the Ala Alba storming the Gravekeeper's Palace until chapter 300.

While I can understand Ken Akamatsu wanting to get certain things out of the way, at the same time, that doesn't mean I want it "padded" for the sake of ensuring a big piece of plot advancement happening in a milestone chapter.

wrong, Ken is doing nothing unusual, we are just into the beginning of 38, barely one book away from the MW ending 36, you are just being a fanboy asking for everything on a platter yesterday, understandable, but really... plus, Ken did this exact same thing before in Love Hina, when Keitaro has to fight every member of the harem before gets to Naru, (especially Motoko and Shinobu) this is something that needs to be settle in an harem story, or otherwise the rest of the members won't accept the defacto choice with grace, which is what a happy harem story like LH was, the only twist Ken put in this one is the choice is supposed to be up in the air, and my guess is it would not end soon, it will take a while to get through the whole harem.

Of course, part of my problem here is the fact that I feel that after pretty much evolvling out of that stage (where the traces of the "bad' parts are only used sparingly even in times of breather), Negima is reverting back to being another Love Hina-like story (where it seems like harem comedy is more important than the plot) ever since the MW arc ended.

Yes, I can accept the whole "relaxing after the end of a major arc" thing, but at the same time, I felt that breather volumes were handled better in previous volumes than in volumes 37-38 (especially in terms of story flow).

As for the current arc taking a while:

with Asuna there with Negi (not to mention my hunch about this being something to tide things over until chapter 350), I really think that we've reached the climax of this arc (AKA the Sports Festival portion), with only two chapters left here (and although the harem bit will probably be unresolved, the students will have an understanding of what's going on and put an end to the "catch Negi" game). Besides, as we were reminded three chapters earlier that Negi doesn't have to make a decision until graduation.

IMO the breathers in previous arcs worked better because, while we know there will be grand adventure following the breathers, none of them were as important as SAVING AN ENTIRE WORLD. Yes, the Magic World arc turned out to be quite epic race against the clock to save the world, but back during the breathers we never knew it would be at such scale.

Here we know, we know that there are many important things to be done less an entire world perish. And yet all the girls could think off is forcing a boy to fess up on who he loves when he hasn't even hit puberty yet? I mean, I doubt deep inside he is capable of differentiating between Phileo, Storge and Eros yet . This is why a gal like Haruna is great to have in a party, but not on serious meetings

Two other points that other breather periods have that this one seems to be lacking:

1. A fluid pacing from event to the next (whereas this breather period was skipping around at the beginning);

2. There's actual development in terms of "growth" in Negi's group, where here it feels as if this growth is being avoided (save for those involved in Negi's plan).

Few comments about the chapter.

Kinda confused about Chisame speech. Who is "them" that she speaks about on pg 11?

Asuna shows up and proves herself to be the only resonable person in class. It also explains why Negi only thinks of her as his partner: She's only one who acts the part.

Negi feels guilty about dragging Asuna into the mess. This hints that the next arc will be about Negi finding an alternate ways to deal with the crisis.

On the last page Makie states what should be bloody obvious for a long time now. Also Negi's "secret" is out in the open.

So do we learn more about how the magic-sealing bullet affects Negi? It wouldn't make sense if he loses all his strength because of it, since his physical body should now be considerably more powerful than it was when he was human.

I would have preferred that all characters who don't have a history of combat training, or real combat, remained as support in combat situations, rather than actual fighters. Artifacts that suddenly enable a character who has had no combat experience or training to fight evenly with those that have doesn't make good reading for me, and that seems to be the general consensus amongst MSN fans.

Combat support characters like Yue (now a fighter, with training and experience), Nodoka, Asakura, Konoka etc, make for reasonable and interesting reading in my opinion, whereas characters like Yuuna just strikes me as cheap and unreasonable in a combat situation.

Are there even any major characters left in class who don't have personall interest in taking part of this game? They even convinced Ayaka to their plan. There was Akira but she got spirited away. It seems that it's only Asuna left who stands on Negi side unconditionally.

Anyway what do you think gonna happen next? Now that the word is out that there is a girl that Negi loves, I wouldn't be surprised if the remaining girls may try to bumrush the two.

Just like makie said the girl Negi likes is probably Asuna and adding the fact that he is obvilosly feeling guilty about her role in his plan, I wouldn't be surprised if ch 350 ended with Negi declaring he'll find alterne way to secure his plan- thus giving a hook to next arc.

The only "major" character that we've actually seen getting involved in this event ATM is Asuna, and she is siding with Negi. While the others may have been part of the conversation leading up to the event, that doesn't mean they're participating in this event (after all, besides having some common sense about Negi's situation, you try dealing with a mob full of middle school students).

but damn... asakura is a bitch now... I dont know if misa and rest told asakura about it... or simply asakura used her spy bots to overhear the secret and did not follow negis request to keep it a secret...

misa and other cheerleders promised negi to keep up the secret... I kinda doubt it was them that told it to asakura... but whatever it takes asakura is still a bitch to tell this secret to everyone.... negi will be angry and disapointed on some girls..

I wouldnt be supprised if negi complained that Misa is evil as she was not able to keep it a secret and starts sulking towards misa... and since her hikari genji plan is on the stake she might get mad at the rest of class A and asakura that she butts in stuff that should be kept secret...

now I will see that most of the girls will demand from negi "which girl is it" which is an instant annoying and cross out from the harem group for me... becouse its not something to talk so lightly or even ask such kid... he said to keep it quiet so if anyone will mention it he might get upset that they are not able to keep it a secret...

so what yuna's expression at the end of the c347...so what suddently she realized that negi was rejecting girls becouse he had somone in mind... but they just want to screwe up his intrest with this foolish game... then want to punish him for something that he did not do... he is innocent... most throught that he did not paid any attention to any girl but now what her mind finaly started to show signs of life

ehhh I sooo hope that negi would in anger cancel or suspend few pactios as punishment... yuna, haruna and asakura first to be punished as it was their idea... and so negi doesnt have a good memory of the final festival but its a horror....

and I woudlnt be supprised if negi stood in front of the class and said that thanks to this game he realized and decided about something that noone will be able to change his decision... and it would be that he will leave mahora academy for good... becouse he had a bad influance on them and their peacefull lifes...

I wounder what the reaction of the students would be to hear it that negi will leave mahora academy thx to their briliant idea ^^ maybe it would finaly show them what they did and rethink stuff a bit...

as for negi...well he might rethink too and try to find another way to save the world without sacraficing asuna for it... like make her be with her friendsfor those 100years...

hmmm I was wondering what if arika will show up and take asuns place (and be here for negi after 100years)... or the grave master will take the spot as the ancestor of negi and asuna... or even negi will want to sacrafaice himself for thisd purpose while leave notes and stuff what to do to the class... anyway we will see how it will play out...

I would seriously HATE Nodoka... if she is the one that will try to use her diary to read negis mind to find out which girl is it that he likes... ultimate bitch that time and I hope for negi to cancel her pactio at that time as digging in peoples feelings is wrong...
