I just listened to the full OP, which apparently has been out for a while, and I'm so torn on whether it's good or not. I love the refrain (starts with "I will be your deadman), but God the rest is so cheesy. It just sounds very "dub quality," like a Japanese song being adapted to English.

Because it is. Here's the original version: "Black Hearts and Dollar Signs"

Started watching this yesterday, and I felt like somewhere around the 6th-7th episode someone decided to shot the script writer and put a monkey in his place. A drunken one. Injected with LSD.

The Blu-Rays are uncensored. Volume 1 (episodes 1 and 2) was released on Blu-Ray about 2 weeks ago. We probably won't have the entire series uncensored until the end of the year or beginning of 2012.

So, the OVA is finally out... well at least episode 1 is and I really enjoyed it. I was missing the deadman wonderland vibe from when I watched during spring/summer, it's good that it's back for a little bit more.

boy, did I did miss the awesome OP. Senji's backstory, well some of it at least. Didn't get to see how he ended up in Deadman Wonderland. I hope they make more of these or just make a second season.

Yeah it was a nice OVA. Nice to see some of Senji's background. No shock that he was ready to tear that guy apart for what happened to the orphanage. Shows even his past has some truly tragic stuff in it. Didn't cross the line, but definitely wanted to. A pretty epic blade he brought out that almost cut that guy in half. Maybe more impressive is him holding it together even after that tragedy and still able to continue with that job. At least until he eventually ended up in Deadman Wonderland.

Very nice OVA at least for ep1. Really got to get some history on Senji. Makes you wonder what else happened to him to make him just not care anymore about anything other then strength and fighting. Seeing as in this episode he continued his line of work as a police officer, something more tragic is bound to happen to him and land him in the Deadman Wonderland arena in pure berserk mode.

The OVA was really nice!
Explained a whole lot with the new info about pre-wonderland era.
It had some pretty gruesome parts, but that's to be expected in this anime.

It's disappointing for those who have read
the manga not to see what eventually happened,
I was waiting for it the whole episode, oh well.

Next time, baby.

Some thought on the OVA.

Despite Deadman Wonderland being far from a perfect series, I enjoyed it a lot, and was happy to see more. Senji was a good pick for the OVA, he's a very interesting character. He carried the episode for me. Seeing his character fleshed out was a nice treat. However, the rest of the cast was paper-thing.
I know they only have one episode to work with, I'm not expecting Shakespeare here, but the police officers in particular struck me as gag characters more than real people. The art-style was pretty sloppy too, but it's an OVA, and with that in mind, it looked alright.

Minor issues aside, seeing a classic revenge tale starring Senji wasn't bad; it wasn't bad at all.

I think the ova was a little light.

1 question – just because an ova has appeared does that mean that a 2 season will come out ? or 1 thing does not imply another ?

^ I'd be damn disappointed not see a second season,
but it is to my knowledge that the manga isn't all too
quick to update, so I'm not too sure.

it will be A second season of Deadman wonderland but in my opinion it unlikely because of Maybe funding or something so the Ova are more closer to season 2 with the characters past being revealed like crow.

Good lord, what's with all of the disgusting censoring in the Blu-Ray edition?

A comparison between TV and Blu-Ray.

I hope this isn't how the Funimation version will turn out.. otherwise I'm not buying it.
