Interesting that they specifically note which star (Tau Ceti) that Sea of the Morningstar orbits. I wonder if Chiaki's homeworld has a "real" star it belongs to, also?

Awesome episode. Great presentation and I'm loving the fact that while they are introducing characters there is always a detail or two around that show how the world works. Great cast of characters too. Kane, why did you say you were married, you should have played your cards right.

And man, that chocolate parfait looked good.^^

Seems like we may get a solid show on our hands after all. An almost all female cast, but little to no know fanservice, but instead we get good world building and character establishment?!

I like that the lead girl is pretty well grounded rather than a super "Genki" type female. Let's just hope this show doesn't go the same route "Sora Kake Girl" went near it's later half.

I didn't mind slowness either since I enjoyed looking at all the neat (if not fairly sensible) advanced technology.

Really? There has been a quite shows just in the last 2 years with ambitions. Steins:Gate being one of them.

Vandread was freaking awesome for me. If MP shares at least some percentage from that show it'll be an enjoyable ride. Not saying that this one isn't already... saying it too soon or not.

You're right, but I think that Kyuu is talking about having an action-packed space adventure story.

Kiddy Grade and Vandread are both good examples of that, and I myself haven't seen too many good "space adventures" in anime in awhile, so it's great to see Bodacious Space Pirates likely be one.

Despite the fact that I'm many seasons behind when it comes to most of the anime I'm watching, I decided to pick up a few titles from the current season and watch them within a few days of airing, this series being one of them. On the bright side, this has a lot of potential. It cuts down on a lot of the infamous moe factor that drives this one crazy, and Marika isn't a powered-over-the-top female lead (which is a type that I dislike when there's no male lead to counterbalance that, as a few shows I've seen have had).

Although... what's with Chiaki and the hostility? I'm assuming that should be answered shortly (since I don't want to sift through this thread to find the answer)

The full version of the OP song, Mugen no Ai (shortened cuz I'm lazy), has been floating around online for a while now apparently. SO much EPIC packed into 5 minutes...

Just watched the first episode an hour ago. I liked the aerobraking explanation, the general European feel of the village complete with canals, the slightly futuristic feel to things.

And I loved a few quotes too. Ririka's "It's time for a little space piracy" and Marika's "Who'd Ever heard of legal pirates?" I found myself liking Marika a lot, which always helps.

Chiaki's reaction to the chocolate parfait on the menu was priceless and she seems like she's gonna be a cool badass character.

All and all, a good introduction to a two-cours show.

Misa is already my fav character (<3 Itou Shizuka). She has such an amiable, care-free personality and is a total beauty.

With a medic like that, who wouldn't mind getting shot or breaking a bone or two?
