I fail to see how them deliberately NOT showing off girls' underwear can be interpreted as deliberate sexualization of the girls in question.

As for why they're wearing skirts at all, it's because it's the school uniform. Which they normally wear on the ground, in an environment that naturally has gravity. They apparently do not have a specialized uniform for club activities in zero g.

They'd be the only club with specialized club uniforms, and if one club gets them, what do you think the other clubs are going to complain about?

They changed the title over 1 year ago and took out the miniskirt part

the light novels are called "Mini-Skirt Space Pirates" and that was the assumed title of the anime when it was announced in spring 2009.

Then in fall 2010 they changed the title

It's ok, Dark Queen Chiaki will deal with him.

I haven't read the LN so I'm only guessing

Every time I see the original character designs I get a little more disappointed inside because I REALLY wish they had stuck to them for the anime... but the anime designs aren't bad by any means, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Spoiler for Motherly love:

Silly Ririka-san. They are called "Spacenoids"
Spoiler for Put some normal suit will you:

Oh my silly Marika-sama. You're not a Char. But can't blame you when Fuyutsuki Yuika did the same

Joking aside, the scene in the car where Ririka bring closer Marika's head to hers is anime original. They still have the inside the car scene.
And the shooting training was altered quite heavily. But I think it was for the best for both Marika and Ririka, when the other two people were absent in the anime

I'm glad this show won't get ruined by fanservice like in your face panty shots and crap like that.

A bit of hints of Shoujo, but if Bones were the one to do this, it would have been stunning considering their work with Stardriver.

What about Kuurie? I think the original design fits the tone of the show much better than the doofy glasses.

Most of the design changes I don't mind but yeah the one for the girl with the glasses is disappointing. I don't know why they made her look so silly in the anime version compared to how she looks in the LN.

Not true, take Onegai Senpai and Monogatari Series as examples from this season... newer/reworked designs >>>usually>>> old and dusty ones
