Actually followers DO wear the good stuff you give them, but only if its better than the ones they're wearing by default. Most of the time to do this you just have to upgrade them to a higher refine level (they always equip Legendaries in my game), and you're good to go.

If they go back to their default gear after you dismiss them, just grab one of their weapons, then give it back to them; they should wear the better set of gear that's sitting in their inventory afterwards.

I did figure out there's a trick/mod to get them to use special bows. It just wasn't clear early on what they were wearing (at least to me) that I had to beat in terms of offerings. It also took some coaxing to get the tanks to stop using their damned bows and be a tank

im using a mod that changes the clothes and posture of the most Housecarls(Lydia and Mjoll without that Bulky posture), and fix this crap about their clothing

I tried renaming files with the daedrichelmf_0 (something like that) and what not, but lightning came up with no head

i've posted here a video with the mod without mask, it applies to all females(minus 40 and older) bcuz its a new Femalehead dds

Here's a Modpack with this mod on nexus(Someone must tell to this people on neuxs that this mod is just a face mod, not anything based on ffxii, since you can create a char using this)

There is a legitimate belief that it is intentional; after all, he IS an immortal follower. And as a magical dog who really wouldn't appreciate you avoiding finishing his quest to take advantage of his immortality, he would certainly want to be as much of a pain in the ass as he can. You are suppose to WANT to get rid of him; that's why the quest with the axe has that strange option.

Oh yeah, after adventuring a while with him, I was annoyed. But at first, I was amused! I just reunited the dog with his master. I didn't want to keep him.
