I know and that's why I'm confused as to why... I never got pass first 6 episodes in Gintama. For me humor there is flat with some very ridiculous jokes which make no sense and with a huge cast of idiots. What biggest part of characters do is just dumb and is something that a mental person would do. It feels like they all are from some mad house, they have no common sense.

School Rumble is another example... yet all those type of comedies are damn popular! WHY?! I really feel like an idiot for not understanding all those major comedies 0_0

Ok after re-watching the episode I do admit that the scene with skirts was amusing, poor guy.
If you don't find school rumble (season 1) funny, I don't think you will find most of the comedies (at least the non-harem) to be funny. Maybe comedies are just not your taste.

I can't speak for Gintama as I've never watched it, but for School Rumble, I can understand if you didn't find the first episodes funny, since it's primarily focused on Tenma and her dumb misunderstandings. The real star is Harima and his quest for happiness. Sure, there are still plenty of misunderstandings, but at least they go somewhere eventually, unlike Tenma's which go nowhere. Did I mention that I don't like Tenma?

Anyway, both shows have similarities as far as joke delivery (the ED reminds me of School Rumble's play), but I don't think this show is going to focus on romance too much if at all. Actually, the only thing this show is missing is a tsundere. Class rep girl perhaps?

Just watched episode 2.
Not as hilarious as episode 1 but it's still great.

'Tadakuni takes 5 damage', and that mirror girl XD
And failed troll attempt by the principal, lol.

I don't understand the joke on the princess and her butlers part though :\

sounds like your typical high school guys to me.

Best thing about hanging around with your mates is to have fun and act as idiotic as possible without being looked down by the general public. A good example is at near the end of the d&d skit in ep2, where they are about to have fun and had to stop embarrassed when some stranger walks by.

The all-guys school can produce some crazy things.

Heh, it's the dumbness and ridiculousness that make it funny to us. It could be a result of upbringing (as in what you are exposed to) and I guess you just belong to the minority in that aspect but there's nothing wrong with that. No need to feel like an idiot.

As for Gintama, aside from slapstick manzai, many of them are spoof jokes which are not restricted to other anime, and if you don't get the reference, it won't be as funny.

Yeah, as someone who used to be a high school boy as well, trust me when I say that when a group of high school guys get together, such dumbness and ridiculousness is to be expected. That it's actually very realistic is another source of enjoyment for me - for instance, that first segment with the stick? Literally happened with me dozens of times (We were using the classroom ruler though).

Oh, but rest assured, I never stole my friend's little sister's lingerie.

At first I think its a seiyuu name. But after few googling, didn't found something that related to this show.
IMADA Koji (今田耕司), a Japanese comedian.
He is not a girl, nor handsome.

First, I would like to say, that I liked the first 3-4 seasons of Gintama. This show has loads of mediocre episodes, but then there are a few real gems in between. To look for sense in a comedy, that is purposely trying to surprise us with the unexpected is somehow pointless. If comedies were logical, they wouldnt be funny.

But I know where you are coming from though. Humor.... or better to say what people consider funny is not an universal thing. It depends a lot on cultural background, your education, your interests, etc etc and above all on your intelligence level. And before I get bashed for this comment, please allow me to explain myself. I am not saying there is anything wrong with being medium smart!!! What I am saying is, that Gintama is a type of show meant for everybody, it is nothing too high or niche and it is meant to appeal to a wide audience. In other words, gintama is a show for the averige viewer, it has its funny and weak moments and if it doesnt suit your taste, well, then you have to look elsewhere!

Otherwise.... I did notice the resemblance to Gintama.... the humor is kind of similar, yet different at the same time..... I would say fresher somehow.

I totally loved the scene in which they tricked the straight guy into putting the skirt on. I saw it coming, but laughed nevertheless. If I had to sum it up, I would say this is a lucky star x Gintama crossover.

I will continue watching it, because this is currently the only comedy on my watch list and I will allow myself to be pleasantly surprised if this show will continue being watcheable. I doubt though it will make it to my hard drive :P

Wow, that was really funny and quite original... or at least I have not watched anything similar lately

In addition to the hilarity, the girls are very realistically cute, riverbank fujoshi novelist, convex mirror part-timer, bad-tooth oujo-sama, gyaru imouto, yankee ane

Anyway, pretty surprised by the first episode here. My favorite was the skirt bit and how they made a fool of the main character (i'm not supposed to memorize their names).
You know guys, as much as anime target specific audiences, reviewers do too... ANN targets middle school foreigners without any exposure of the medium... for them the review is fairly accurate... however short-sighted, ignorant, idiotic, etc. it is

I think I prefer the sister's to always having their eyes shadowed. Once you see it, it suddenly becomes a part of their character. If I imagine it now, seeing them with eyes would feel weird to me

Also, I think it's the anime's way of saying "These are just supporting characters, don't fully concentrate on them, it's the boys we want you looking it"

I love the ED, I really do, it is like a reminder of the zany things that us guys might have used to do in highschool when life was much simpler.

So far, the show is a keeper for me, I remember that some said that the dumb and loud cast made them feel uncomfortable and that, as such, they prefer those in Kimi to Boku more. I think that they are not feeling comfortable because they are thinking that themselves could not be as dumb, or doing things that were so embarassing. I certainly did not do the underwear stealing bit, I certainly wasn't loud like Hidenori, but I did things like the role playing skit, but parodying the "Luke, I am your father" scene, or role playing girls like in the first episode, or said loldeep things in hope to impress people, but were embarassing me in hindsight.

Yes, I recognize some pieces of my past self in Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou more than in Kimi to Boku (in this one, NOTHING AT ALL).
