What was unusual about these results? Looking at them, they fell as I felt they would.

Just get me Kurisu and C.C. through and I've got enough to vote for this year through the main season.

If you looked at results with a win/loss outlook, they're not that far off, but if you take the win percentage into account, then it becomes far more abnormal. Although Tsumugi and Ritsu winning over Fuko and Kotomi by roughly the same amount seems odd. Considering Kotomi is stronger than Fuko and Tsumugi is stronger than Ritsu.

Of course, Kyouko's performance against Hinata has got the be the strangest of them all.

Perhaps a lot of people who are typical Tsumugi voters also have a real soft spot for Evangeline A.K. McDowell?

Maybe Ayu took some voters away from Kotomi? I'd imagine there's quite a bit of overlap between Clannad fans and Kanon fans.

With strange results in 3-way matches, I'd be inclined to think that the "X" factor posed by the third, weakest girl might have played a role (i.e. she disproportionately taking more votes from one opponent than the other).

These are just some ideas, mind you. It's hard to see what could cause significant shifts in the strength level of Clannad and K-On characters (aside from maybe some sort of K-On movie impact).

Tsukimiya Ayu and Kamio Misuzu get paired up with Clannad characters and unsurprisingly get completely hammered for it. Erza was too weak to take advantage of the split vote but I suspect that Ayu cost Kotomi the win against Ritsu.

In a huge outlier match result, Hakamada Hinata makes a run at Sakura Kyoko. She didn't get too close in the end but I expected Kyoko to do much, much better considering what should be a massive strength gap between the two. I had Kyouko projected to get 64% of the non-Chihaya votes not the 54% she actually got. I'm not really sure what the cause of this is. It's not like Minato Tomoka suddenly got a boost along with Hinata and there are no other Madoka characters to compare against this round. I'm guessing this is a one time outlier result but we'll see in the next few days.

As the Guilty Crown anime nears its end it, some of their characters may be powering up. Tsugumi seems to be a fair bit stronger than before. However, once again it is not enough to change a result due to the pre-boost natural strength gap. I'm looking forward to seeing if Ayase or Inori boosted as well.

The Sakura Kyouko match is definitely really strange. I don't know why it went down like that. Tsugumi's performance was pretty high and while I cite a "end of Guilty Crown" boost as possible, I think it's a bit early for it to kick in. Kotomi and Tomoyo doing badly is probably just a normal result of split votes. Were there any other results you thought were strange? Nanoha also looked a bit on the high side but I don't think it was anything too far out there.

Just took a look at the contestants accepted into the robin rounds and... we have 5 HanaKana in Nova, and 6 in total out of 24. Quite a feat, I must say.

Pretty sad that Riko (Aria) beat Minami (Baka) and that Ritsu beat Kotomi.

Hanakawa had more characters qualified in phase I than all but one seiyuu had characters in prelim.

I never noticed. When exactly was the avatar changed? I don't really see why that would lead to a large drop in strength, though. The new avatar doesn't really look any worse than the previous one.

I never thought avatars mattered...I thought people were voting for characters? Then again, I guess many do vote on looks

They matter for those who aren't familiar with the characters.

That's true. Humans are bitter, meanspirited little creatures that will look for any excuse they can to hate something.
