But we're talking about a character in a Japanese series, and they've already shown with Nyarko and Kuuko and Atko and the Cthulhu woman whose name I can't remember that they don't care what gender the cosmic horrors originally were. That's why saying that Hastur's character in this anime will have to be male because it happened to be given a male title in the mythos is foolish. Its gender will be whatever the series' creator wants it to be. The title of "king" is irrelevant.

The use of titles in non-English countries is not what was being argued. The original statement was that the character of Hastur in the anime had to be male because that creature was, at one point in the mythos, referred to as "king." That is the point we are arguing is foolish. Attempting to sidetrack us on to a different discussion altogether will not change the inherent foolishness of that statement.

Adorable character designs, and very funny first episode. It's been quite some time since Mythos worked as a naming basis, I can only recall Demonbane

Also the Japanese when using foreign words they occasionally ignore the gender for obvious reasons.

While I still think Hasta as a reverse trap, I wonder how anyone would translate this Japanese quote.
Spoiler for Hasta's actual gender:
Everytime I look at feminine guys like Hasta, it's hard to identify which gender he is, especially if he is voiced by a girl (there's some exceptions in it). If he is voiced by a male, I could easily classifies him as a male. Since Rie Kugimiya is pretty much typecasted as tsundere, her male roles only contain a little amount for her. The only reverse trap (for the moment) she ever voiced is Kaoru from Ladies Versus Butlers!, which is also animated by Xebec.
