A simple solution to the $2 bill problem is to have a little currency marker always sitting on the register... I would assume that $2 use the same stuff that all other bills are made of, and so it would turn out clean

It's rare because businesses do not stock them. It is not rare because people do not use them. People do not use them because businesses do not stock them, and thus they do not receive it as change. The only way to get them is to specifically request them at the bank.

Or find that one business that decides to be a troll, like this booth at GenCon two years back where I sold a stack of cards to them, and they gave me $48 in $2 bills. I've since used all but one of them, though the biggest reaction I got was just a double take and "Wow, haven't seen one of these in a long time."
