EDIT: and yes, he kinda does write like that, with more purple prose. Keep in mind that he was writing in a time when he was paid by the word count, or was it the page count or maybe I got the wrong time period I forgot, so he had to pad it up his writing.

AFAIK nowadays most writers (as in, non-famous) are still paid by word/page count and if I remember correctly Lovecraft wasn't truly famous during his lifetime.

Now, in the section of questions that must be asked, if this TV series is only 12 episodes long (as is the standard nowadays), how many of the light novels will be covered? are there any major arcs to look forward? are there any red shirts (a trekkie term for unnamed characters that have an untimely ending) later on or will it remain mostly casualty free (lovecraftian horrors brutally slaughtered by the lovely hands of Nyaruko-san need not apply).

As Sumeragi said, Hastur is actually a feminine male, despite his little girl appearance, which is hard to tell his gender. He reminds me so much of a ponytail boy from Angel Feather for the same reasons. However, I don't know if I can describe Hastur as a trap even though he still wears male clothes (despite the reasons I described above).
