Would someone kindly translate what Kamiya is saying? I'm sure it has something to do with this series.

okay, it's not Nisemonogatari, but, well, teeth, House... the symbolism is pretty clear:

Over 20000 copies less than Bakemonogatari vol 1 in the same time frame

No, Bake v1 did 44k first week but was supply constrained, it ended up selling 82k which Nise v1 will get nowhere near. Still great sales... Especially for the weakest link in the franchise.

Hmm, the BD vol 1 price has dropped to 4000yen...

That is too fast since it only came out last month...
Overstock is overstock...

I wouldn't read too much into it, as the sales were still excellent. If they can get a few more people to give the first volume a chance, they may end up sticking around and collecting the rest of the series, which is why a lot of shows use that pricing strategy to start with. Not to mention, it's quite possible that certain stores over-bought knowing that the first series eventually sold out at retail (resulting in the need to issue that boxset). Anticipating demand for a volume 1 is tricky.

Most of the shows with low prices for Vol 1 also only have 1 episode on the disc anyway... it's not really a discount imo... you're paying 4k for 1 episode or 7k for 2... true discounts would be like AKB or to go to an older example, NANA.

Initially I thought it was 50k for Blu-ray only. Honestly as a whole it's pretty good but for this series it's actually not good.

It's excellent, particularly when it's no doubt impacted to some degree by the Amazon dispute (though who knows how much). I suppose some people might have thought that the series could maintain its original series numbers, but that was always near-impossible. A bit of the luster will always wear off after a few years, particular given that the sequel changes its approach a bit from the original series. It's still almost certainly going to be the top-selling anime TV series of the year.

A part of me will always see this series as the 80k average monster that it once was.

Well, eventhough not as much as post-Bake, but Shinbo can still spend his money on red light district post-Nise for his inspiration in Kizu and Zen...

Nisemonogatari Vol 3 netted about 50k on initial sales...
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-10491.html

Quite low, as i expected the sales will be boosted by the tooth-brushing in HD...
