Sci-fi action shows are not necessarily mechas, there's plenty of non-mecha ones, like Birdy the Mighty or Symphogear.

As pointed out by Heiji over at Manga-News, Sony Music Entertainment has registered the domain http://www.zetsuen.net - suggesting that an anime is likely to be in the works (and would thus be produced by Aniplex) for the shounen manga Zetsuen no Tempest (絶園のテンペスト), published in Square Enix's Gangan. It's actually supposed to get a big announcement in the June issue of Gangan, so we should get an official confirmation (and the opening of the website) in the next 5 days:

Hmm, I have been a little interested in Zetsuen no Tempest but never really bothered trying to read it. An anime would save me the trouble. Hope the leads get some fanboy worthy nice voices~

A 2ch source 'leaked' that this would be a fall series animated by BONES... hopefully there'll be information inside this issue of Gangan to confirm the rumor.

Damn, I wished it'd be Production I.G but BONES seems to be a very good choice too

. If that's confirmed then we're going to see some spectacular nopan action scenes there with lower visual quality compared to the former though, ... on my watch list as well

Yama no Susume is getting an adaptation. It's apparently cute girls climbing cute mountains or something. According to the story, the first volume hasn't even been released yet, which always bodes well.
