If I recall correctly, side-to-side vibrato is preferable for acoustic or classical guitars because bending the strings on those things is damn hard. But on an electric guitar you get get much wider and easier vibrato using the bend technique.

Yeah, I can only do half-bends on acoustic/classical.
Does anyone know of a video where it clearly teaches the correct left-hand posture while scaling? I believe that I'm not doing it right because it's a bit stressful when I'm running through all the strings (eg. Guitar ni Kubittake intro riff)

oh yeah, I would also like to know this one as well. I think I remember a youtube video saying you have to keep your fingers in your left hand almost perpendicular to the strings, but the hard part is when you go down the strings, the fingers gets fewer space to spread out, so they slant out on the strings. I have a bad habit of doing it, which I assume is bad... Hahaha, I'm just dropping by on this page... (I actually sneaked out of my morning duties to go to town to be online). And even here, the connection is bad. (especially on youtube). OK, so back to reality... damn vacation...

Hey, I need a bit of help.
I'm almost ready to find my Pasadena Fwy cover, but the tab on here doesn't have the part at the very end. I've had a go at working it out myself and I can't seem to get it :/ Can someone with a little more experience have a go at it for me? 1:53 on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkfC9zpr-G4

hmmmm, I remember there was tabs for Pasadena FWY made in this forum. I searched for it, but unfortunately the file was lost... I have to find it in my "archive" and upload it in mediafire, so here it is:
Pasadena FWY INCOMPLETE VER. Sorry, that's the best I can come up with... Well, I won't be doing K-On song covers anytime soon until i could settle a little "argument" that's been going on. Plus, I got other things "lined up"... Hope this helps...

Yeah that's the tab I'm using. :/ I'll get my teacher to have a go at it, he'll probably get it in like 3 seconds lol
I have worked out many of the missing parts for the tab though, mainly the missing rhythm guitar section. I'll have a go at sorting it out myself when I've covered it.

Oh, could I get some help here... I've been looking at this part of the tabs for a long time now, and I'm really confused. I mean, does this say that I have to do a full bend on the 11th fret on the first string? I mean, I can't bend the full string downwards, and if I do bend the first string upwards, it will also bend the 2nd string... So, whatdo you think? An I reading it correctly?... Though not k-on related, but it's still anime music close to k-on... (you know this song well, deng17)
thanks...

To be fair, that does make more sense, but the placement of the full bend doesn't seem to be on the 14. It just looks awkward.
It's probably best to go with trenton_dawn in this case, though, since he seems to have any idea what he's talking about. |

oh, this tab is generated from guitar pro (so if anyone's gonna know about these stuff, It'll be you guys), but it's the first time that I see this placement of a bend before. It's not clear... I guess you will just bend the 2nd string... that makes sense. thanks a lot.

GP5 places the "bend" notation unusually high on the tab. The bend is definitely on the B string (although it looks like the note is not intended to be held in the second measure).
If the bend was on the e string, it would look like this: ![]() If the bent note was intended to be held, it would look like this:

I used a Fender Mustang with the following:
Stompbox: Tubescreamer (Cranked volume + gain) Amp: Plexi (everything at 2o'clock, pre gain cranked, post gain at about 1 o'clock) and then a bit of reverb. Thanks for subscribing by the way!

I like that cover of Pasadena FWY. It's really good. Though the end part sounded somewhat weird.
May I ask, what thickness of picks or plectrum do you guys use? Can you say the brand, and it's material that it is made up of? I use a thin-med pick of 0.71 thickness. I just wanna know what you guys use, because a lot of k-on songs have fast rhythms with little bits of leads in it. Last edited by Night_Music; 2012-05-16 at 08:14. |

Hi all~, I'm new to this discussion here, really really awesome work on compiling all the k-on scores.
I play mostly keyboard/piano, but my dad has a bass, so just trying to learn a bit... Just wanted to ask any bassists here what's the proper technique for slapping? Do you slap and bounce off the strings or hit and rest your thumb on the next string (which is what I'm doing) or...anything goes? Also, just saying, you guys should do a collaboration heh. |

Yeah, me and LightMusicBand have all ready done one together, but it'd be cool if we could gather up a whole "Band" and do one. Why don't we?
Guitar 1: BigSmokeDawg Guitar 2: AznAndy94 Bass: [free] (S332666460) Keyboard: Freshoutofthepan Drums: Trenton Dawn Let me know if you're interested. We could probably do a song like Houkago Tea Time or something. I'll edit the video and all the tracks together but in order to take part you'll need a fairly decent quality video camera and a good quality recording of yourself. But yeah, with that song is has two guitar solos, a keyboard solo and an awesome bassline so everyone who's playing will get a chance to do something cool. In about a month I'm going to have about 10 weeks off because I'll have finished school, so I'll have plenty of time to sort everything out. I also might be getting a new amp soon (Got my eyes on the Blackstar HT-5H) so we'll see how that goes lol
