As far as I'm aware of, the manga is still ongoing so yeah, the anime finished before the manga. Is that a problem?

The manga is adapted from the original light novels (as was the anime) so it follows a *slightly* different path at times (often including stuff that didn't get into the anime but is present in the original light novels). This keeps the manga interesting in its own right.

Looks like Seven Seas has licensed the Toradora manga...

At two volumes so far, I see a long wait between volumes...

Yeah, I wonder at these manga adaptations of light novels (Haruhi, Spice&Wolf, Toradora, etc) ... we're looking at many, many years of adaptation for each. However, whereas the Japanese market and industry does that kind of long range planning (some businesses are known to have 50 year business plans) --- American business utterly fails to think past the next quarter any more (much less 5 or 10 years out).

Seven Seas will release at least the first 2 volumes next year, and I hope the third gets published by year's end. Beyond that, not much to do but wait.

I love this manga, it's funny, has likeable characters and good art (I prefer it to much of the light novels art that I've seen).

In fact, it's so weird how this manga has much better art than the Zero No Tsukaima manga, which would have benefitted from it because it's more action/fantasy oriented.

third volume in english is coming out this summer.... I have the japanese versions as well.... so far I feel like this is a great adaptation and NOT just a "scene by scene" of the anime.

Aye.. my error. I got volume 1 recently... the artwork is a pretty decent reprint of the original japanese (hardly any smudging). Favorite scene is of Ruiji braiding Taiga's hair. No real complaints about the translation either.

Volume 2 on pre-order for the summer release.

Picked up the japanese volume 5 of Toradora! at the LA Kinokuniya bookstore the other day, and it reminded me why I liked this series so much. volume 5 covers the "summer beach house trip" the gang takes. Almost everyone gets a set of epiphanies about their situations and underlying feelings, both comedic and dramatic.

The artwork remains fantastic... I really like the transitions between comedic, realistic, and surreal. I'm also collecting the Yen press English version but after having several previous english translations series dropped before finishing (Moon Phase, ARIA) - I've taken to collecting the japanese releases no matter what.

Makes me work on my Japanese language comprehension
