ANN just says she won. I don't know how credible this source is but it seems to imply that she won due to all her 2011 works same as Crunchyroll, though there seems to be a bit of Copy Pasta going on...

I had to lol at the spelling "Horo Musuko" . Oh here we go, derailing the thread to a Okada fest thread again

But like her, hate her, she's not involved for this anime... hoping the actual anime is a LOT better than what the PV portrays. Not counting on it though.

From wiki

"The activities from September of the previous year to August of the year become objects for the examination."

So I don't think there's one show in particular,it's more of a global award (wiki points out Ano Hana but that's just for trivia, there's no trace of a particular show on kobe's website)

And yes, directors are editors but some of them do some pretty heavy edits,Okada's first draft of Ano Hana doesn't have a ghost in it,that was Nagai's idea.
Fractale's ending is 100% Yamakan's idea and even if Okada is the only person credited for BRS it was a team effort with people like Imaishi contributing to the script.
Kawamori isn't given a writing credit but h definatly has a big say in what happen's in evol's story

To take another writer,Urobuchi was so fustrated with Blassreiter's director editing everything he wrote that he ended up just writing what pleased the director (and the director ended up sharing the series composition credit),for phantom requiem for the phantom Kuroda has the series composition credit but director Mashimo was in control of the adaptation choices.

And if we go back to HSI,when you take a look at this post

Quote:
Supervisor Ando mentioned that he is about halfway through writing the scenario and storyboards for Home Sweet Home. He's currently writing the turning point of the story
Of course Okada is doing the actual writing but it seems Ando is heavily involved as well and I guess it was the same for the show.

At least the question won't pose itself here, series composition and direction is done by the same person!

Well ANN does credit Anno as the Storyboarder for seven episodes so I do think the Director is a major influence too but I still think Okada produced the good stuff.

Well like I said, for all intents and purposes this anime has all of HanaIro staff without Okada so we'll see just how much of an influence she was anyway.

Okada Anime are like sausages - even if you like the final product you don't want to look too closely at how they're made.

Then True Tears was a handmade exquisite sausage, whilst a lot of the other series were factory-produced made by leftover ingredients :3.

Why do you think Okada is "necessary"?

You don't think there's anybody else in the world that can write a good SoL anime like HSI?

Also, let's turn it around here, Haak - If Tari Tari does turn out good, will you admit that Okada isn't necessary?

Leave Haak be... he's tsundere for Okada... like me :3

But let's see if PA Works can make a good anime without her. Unfortunately, trailers not helping... as much as I like to ignore it.

That's an internally contradictory statement...

I think the last thing we need is more encouragement of this nonsense that Okada has to write everything. She's going to continue to spiral into unintentional self-parody until her bubble bursts and the industry stops letting her trample all over it.

Alas, Tari Tari looks - looks - like Okada lite. Copycat Okada is inevitable, but just as unhelpful as Okada writing far more series than is good for anyone. But it's just two trailers, and first impressions can be wrong. Let's hope so.

If this show fails to provide its success, then most people would be dissapointed and think : "It could be so much better if Mari Okada is involved"

lol, fair enough. It was mostly just playful ribbing anyway.

I think that Okada can be a great writer... but man, it's hard to believe that the same person who wrote True Tears is currently writing Aquarion EVOL.

I think Okada might be getting a bit sloppy, due to overwork and over-fame.

I agree with Guardian Enzo on how this idea that Okada has to write everything has to stop... for Okada's own sake to. That's partly why I hope Tari Tari is a success, so whoever is writing it might make a bit of a name for themselves.

Neccessary is a strong word actually. Preferable was probably a better word.

But yes if Tari Tari does turn out to be as good as HanaIro then I will be very troubled indeed. That's why I kept saying "mixed feelings are mixed".

As for Okada writing too much, I can't really tell if the quantity is actually making her write crap or if we just feel she's writing too much simply because she's currently writing a lot of crap and we've had enough. Probably both actually. But even when she writes crap, it's usually not too crap and I'm willing to tolerate it if she produces great stuff, so I don't actually mind seeing her write lots (unless the quantity really is the cause)

In case people haven't realised yet, to stop derailing the Tari Tari thread any further, all talk about Mari Okada should be diverted here from on before this thread gets purged by the wrath of the AS mods . We can fanboy, bitch, rage, whatever hell we want in that thread about her in that thread instead!

Unfortunately (Fortunately?) I don't know nearly enough of Mari Okada to way in on people's negativity toward her involvement or lack thereof, but since I have eyes I feel I can express my opinion in regards to the general impressions of the visual quality; that being: Say whaaaat?

Looking through this thread I expected to see praise for PA keeping up their usually high bar of art and animation, but I was genuinely surprised to see some railing against it, even it being compared to Another and Angel Beats! as a bad thing.

Sure, I may be legally blind, but that's only without contacts, so I don't think I'm missing anything. I can't help but think people are getting more then a little spoiled when it comes to visual quality.

Okada Mari in a nutshell:
  • faithful and smooth adaptions
  • tries to make the audience cry its guts out
  • writes boring, senseless, and horribly paced original works
Now why is she discussed here

The video someone called "PV 2" was more of a commercial featuring scenes from the first PV than an actual PV.

PV2 was released today via the official site. Enjoy some of dreamer, the OP, in this one with dialogue.

Personally, I enjoyed this one much more than PV 1. Some of the scenery looks much better (especially that woods scene). My enthusiasm for this series has returned.

Unfortunately, the female character design still look pretty meh . I still consider it a large downgrade compared to True Tears or Hanasaku Iroha. Dammit A-1 Pictures & K-on, why you make chipmunk designs be in fashion.

EDIT: I just did a search on the voice actors. We have the VAs for Tsuruko (Anohana), Chihaya (Chihayafuru) and Noe (True Tears) as the 3 main girls. HOT DAMN.

Wow, that was a much better preview than before and the animation looks much better. The character designs need some work though since they look too similiar to other characters from previous works. The theme song is surprisinly great so far.

Why the Nano Ripe hate? I love their songs.

This is looking pretty bad I gotta say, even by PA standards, which are already in the pits of mediocrity. It's just so hard to cheer for this studio anymore, I thought they had so much potential too.
