To append the above answer, as was discussed in the novel thread, the author says that he is continuing to work on Infinite Stratos while also working on a new work that will be published by Kodansha. So there is no date for the next volume, but it seems the project will continue (well, to be clear, no one had ever said explicitly that it was dead either).

Just figured I'd post this here in case anyone else clicks this thread and wants the latest answer.

Is the anime faithful to the novel?
If yes, for most of the episodes?
if no, which are the episodes? Did the screenwriter make up some content that are not present in the novel?

It feels like the 12th episode is the climax for the first volume, am I right?

For the most part, they did change some things and cut out some other things...a lot so I can't remember them all by number.

The 12th episode is the conclusion of the 3rd volume.

Can someone clarify the story's relationship with Buso Shinki? Someone says IS uses many idea from this garage kit franchise. IS it a rumor?

My guess is the drawing is promotional. IS is a cash cow franchise, so Buso Shinki partnering up for a bit makes sense.

This is a late reply, but Choco, who is one of the designers of some of the Buso Shinki, is now in charge of the illustrations for the IS light novels, and will also be doing some mechanical design for the upcoming IS2 anime. So there's a very specific connection there now.
