Good or at least watchable shows from 2010-2011

Man I knew I'm going to be trolled for making this thread. By the way I really want some help from people here since I don't watch much anime in this year. In fact the only 2012 show I'm only watching is Medaka Box, maybe because it's the only shounen show that is really made for "shounen" audiences, not fujioshi and such. Very recently some MyAnimeList users commented my list. Most of them said I only watch ecchi and harem 'craps' and no popular shounen on sight except Rurouni Kenshin and Medaka Box. No Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and Katekyo Hitman Reborn(it still qualified as one despite most of the viewers are not male to begin with). No thanks, I'm not interested in shows which no end in sight(Medaka Box only had 12 episodes for example).

Some of them try to recommend me some seinen mind-f*ck shows like Bakemonogatari but no thanks. I watch anime to turn my brain off, not to think deeper with it. That also includes its sequel which shown in this Winter.

Back to the real business. I want to see which anime from 2010 and 2011 shows which I missed. Here's some of the rules:

1. No shoujo or josei like Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Kuragehime, Starry Sky and such, although Chihayafuru might get my exception list as long it focused more on karuta and less romance.

2. No bishounen fanservice and fujioshi pandering shows, for very obvious reason.

3. No horror or yandere fanservice shows like Shiki(it may lack of yandere but still a horror nonetheless).

Already seen:

Mashiro-Iro Symphony
Yosuga no Sora
Hanasaku Iroha(it's a shoujo except its made for men)
High School of the Dead
Amagami SS
Level E
Ore no Imouto

Do NOT recommend me these:

1. Madoka Magica. Its not like I hate this show but rather a "default" choice if no other good shows out there.

2. Maria Holic sequel. A yuri a day keep this show away.

3. Anything "Hetalia". I'm not a preteen girl and I want to stay in that way, thanks.

4. Queens' Blade OVAs. Default choice.

5. Aki-Sora OVA. Default choice again.

6. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Technically Spring 2009 show but I believe some people may try to recommend this show if I don't exclude it.

PS: This thread may got an update

Give Tsuritama a try. Ignore shippers; there's nothing going on here but male friendship relationships, aliens, and secret agents.

I'm also going to recommend Usagi Drop because it's such an excellent show, but it may not be your cup of tea.

Finally, I'll suggest the Lupin III/Mine Fujiko remake coming toward the end of this run this spring.

Why don't you try Dog Days, Durarara, and Katanagatari?

I don't know if this will fit your requirements but those are the only ones I can think off the top of my head right now.

Hmm ... no end in sight makes it hard for me to recommend something. I like long series....

I'll second Usagi Drop.

Perhaps also Kurenai?

These are both shoujo and josei, but depending on what you consider "pandering" you might be interested in Tatami Galaxy and the Natsume Yuujinchou sequels (only if you've seen the first two seasons). Tatami Galaxy at least should be safe as it has a kind of quirky style that doesn't seem to pander anyone but the hipsters who are bored with generic looking anime.

Then there was also the moderately succesful, but kind of low on action superhero show Tiger & Bunny. Katanagatari is another low on action, but heavy on dialogue series from the same guy that did Medaka Box.

If you don't mind that it will take at least until the end of this year to finish, and are a gundam watcher, then there is Gundam Unicorn. But it is mostly for those who have watched A LOT of Gundam. Speaking of sequels, there was also Kaiji S2, so if you're a Kaiji watcher and are not afraid of the slow paced second arc it has, then fire away.

Lastly depending if you like visually good family movies, you might be interested in Arrietty and Uchuu Show e Youkoso .

I am going to recommend Angel Beats and Rainbow. Ikoku Meiro no Croisée is an underappreciated gem that has none of those criteria that you mentioned I would also include Gintama, but Gintama started airing before that so I am not sure if it exactly fits into your 2010-2011 animes. I would say though, that Gintama might just be what you are searching for. Might.

.................and if none of my list or any other other peep's list matches what you are searching for, yeah go watch Blood-C (I kid, I kid).

So... you want something more serious?

Don't worry, Chihayafuru has almost no romance. Slight hints but main heroine is too obliviouse to see anything besides Karuta. Series focus on characters and their love for Karuto and how they progress.

Hmmm... I really don't know how many females watch those shows so I'll try my best to choose more manly stuff:

Despite being 2012, Fate/Zero really deserves a try. It has interesting characters, great action and serious atmosphere though plot is a bit heavy.

How about Berserk movie? Didn't see it myself yet but I liked the story in the old anime and movie is a remake.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom are dramatic gun action series about people forced to become assassins. It's 2009 though.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin were emotionally strong series but duno if they'll fit.

Tiger & Bunny is the obvious suggestion. It struck me as a homage to Silver Age superheroes with a bit of a buddy cop show feel. I like to think of it as Lethal Weapon crossed with The Incredibles. Yeah, the fujioshi ended up loving it, so stay away from the fan art, but that was not the targeted audience, and there isn't anything in the show that reads that way unless you happen to actually be a fujioshi. (I'm assuming you aren't).

Ben-To is another that you'd probably enjoy, in a turn your brain off and just enjoy it sense. Man against man in an all out battle royal! Only the victorious get to eat.

Katanagatari is one you should check out. A bit wordy for the first three episodes, but over all I enjoyed it.

Is there a reason you haven't tried Fate/Zero?

You might like Kamisama Dolls , try the first episode.

Bodacious Space Pirates is one you might want to look at. Yes it does have a main character at an all girl school, but that was executive meddling who insisted on high school girls (because of K-On). The author actually wanted to make a traditional space opera (think Treasure Island in space), so he just changed the main character's gender but kept the plot the same. A bit slow the first several episodes as it world builds. If you're a Star Trek geek you'll fit right in with most of the other fans of this show.

By your watch list I'd suggest Bunny Drop, even though it does not match up with what you asked for.

Maybe Familiar of Zero, the fourth and final season of which just completed. The 2nd and 3rd season were terrible, but the first and fourth were alright.

Maybe Shakugan no Shana which also just completed it's final season?

Also I see no Full Metal Panic on your watched list. Why no Full Metal Panic? I'm quite sure you'd love it.

I also bet you'd like A Certain Magical Index.

And The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, you haven't watched that one either?

I expect people to troll me considering my reputation but (un)fortunately nobody actually did. Thanks to all replies though. Now what I only left to do is to see the titles one by one.

I'm glad that nobody recommend me Kyoukai Senjou no Hoziron and Mirai Nikki despite their popularity. I know people out there know what I'm talking about.

Possible picks:

1. Ben-To: It's not something I wouldn't enjoy.

Need better research:

1. Tiger & Bunny: Superhero show, yes. Attracted fujioshis, no. That's one of many reasons why I hate people start watching shows that are not intended for them.

2. Ikoku Meiro no Croisée: I'm not a francophile but at least it's a seinen, not shoujo, unlike Kuroshitsuji though.

3. Kamisama Dolls: Never heard of it but I hope it's not bad.

4. Bodacious Space Pirates: Despite having large teenage girl casts but at same time I never interested in any space opera unless they are mecha.

5. Katanagatari: From the author of Medaka Box, yes. Mimicking the style of Bakemonogatari, no.

Staying away from these:

1. Bunny Drop: It's a josei and I don't want to dilute the josei genre/audience as much as I want teenage girls and young women not to dilute shounen and seinen shows.

2. Gintama: Another "Hetalia" case. I just don't want my penis turn into vagina because amount of bishies there.

3. Blood-C: People hated it and maybe I should join them too.

4. Tsuritama: Just leave this one to fujioshis alone.

5. Natsume Yuujinchou: Much like Nurarihyon no Mago except even more boring.

Having watched Gintama for a number of years, I wasn't aware that Gintama has many bishies...There is a fair amount of plain and ugly characters you know, ranging from Shinpachi, Catherine, Otose, Hachiro, Kondo, Prince Hata, etc, etc, etc. Heck, even the lead character is not someone I consider as bishie. I would say Gintama actually has only a handful of bishies. If you ask me, if you're a guy and you watch Gintama, that "thing" might become erm, stronger?

But oh well, the decision is ultimately up to you.

I found Katanagatari pretty different, stylewise, from Bakemonogatari. (They do have the same author, though.)

Gintama has bishounens? I watched a few episodes and I don't recall anything like that. It seemed like an over the top affectionate parody of your typical shounen show.

Any way glad you liked some of my suggestions, let us know how they work out.

Gintama still has bishounens, but they aren't drawn in a shoujo way, nor in a Hetalia way, they just look a bit "manly" or something.

It's not that he doesn't like Gintama, not everyone has to like popular things.

The strange thing is he seems to think Gintama is aimed at girls. It's pretty clearly aimed at men. I don't recall Gintama having a reputation for female fans either. I mean, Gundam has a bigger reputation for fujioshi fans. And Gintama is certainly nothing like Hetalia.

But whatever, if he doesn't like Gintama he doesn't like Gintama. Hopefully he'll find something else on the suggestion list that he will like.

Katanagatari is the best show of the last 5 years.

Redline is the best movie (along with Ponyo) of the last 5 years.

Katanagatari is very different in style from Bakemonogatari and I liked it a lot more. I did like Bakemonogatari too, but it has some off-putting elements and entire streaks of episodes I didn't like.
