Not manga reader but did you try Girl Friends?
Both characters start as friends, not even childhood friends. And eventually develop feelings for each other. The story is well build with good mix of drama and comedy.

The art style is good too.

I'm going to recommend Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakurairo II. It focuses on the main couple from the first Kuchibiru.
