I am picking up the orginal Saki PSP, will they be releasing a another PSP based on Side A? They are crazy for mahjong games over there so why not >_>

We don't know. Definitely not with the DVDs/BRs, that's for sure. A webcast is likely.

I do not know about you but I think it is ridiculous to do this ... decide to make an anime of 12 episodes when it is clear that 24 episodes would have been better ...

12 episode anime has been the norm for years though. It's not ideal for long narratives, but that's what we have these days. And what's more, Achiga is ongoing -- the last episode actually aired several days before the equivalent chapter was released. It was unprecendented, as literally manga readers and anime-watchers were in the same boat, so to speak.

yes but I mean SAKI Achiga Hen not another anime lol its would have been easier to make an anime of 24 or 22 episodes instead of 12 and tell us "there will be 3 episodes aditional"

The 3 extra episodes are actually unplanned -- the production staff was as surprised as we were, which is why they intend to use it to finish off the semifinal match. Because we can't exactly end during the VANGUARD segment now, could we, especially with how much some of the Shiraitodai members have been hyped (*cough* Awai *cough*).

As for being ONLY 12 episodes, do remember that the anime literally caught up with the manga in the last chapter. There IS no more material to adapt. Literally.

I doubt they expected the series to do so well pre-planning. Especially these days. Doing 20+ episodes can be quite a risk.

Don't forget. So much stuff was breezed through in the first 4-5 eps. Granted, we can probably do away with those details anyways. So, the current product as it stands is fine.

I think that's a bit much to assume. The extra episodes were unannounced, but I highly doubt they were really "unplanned" or that anyone was "surprised" (certainly not "as surprised as we were"

). The Blu-Ray box that comes with the first volume houses 4 volumes, and that was planned way before they announced the extra episodes to the public. So I think this is really just PR, and they planned for 15 episodes (with 12 on TV) all along, just like Bakemonogari, OreImo, and (now apparently) Kokoro Connect (though that's 13/17).

Well again, to be more clear, not on the same DVDs/BDs that the 12 TV episodes are on. But as said above, the disc count of the Blu-Ray boxes suggests there'll be 7 or 8 volumes in all, and not just the 6 for the TV episodes. So probably just released as volumes 7 & 8 after the first six. As you say, a webcast will probably happen before then.

Whatever it was, be it PR or really unplanned, extra episodes are always welcome, if only to finish the semis, as it'll be the only chance we'll get for probably YEARS to see what the rest of Shiraitodai is capable of.

That being said - I really enjoyed this series a lot and LIKED the "side characters" plot, it made everything seem bigger and more "real" connected to the original Saki anime. What's not to like?
