Uhh.. Did you not watch the first two episodes? She does have experience and has been fighting ever since. You know since Japan is a War Zone which everyone makes a point of saying. Even the other characters mention that America has is easy compared to the BETA effected zones.
Yes I did. End of Episode 2 is Yui crying looking out over a devastated Kyoto. Beginning of Episode 3 is 3 years later in Alaska. We are never told nor shown what Yui was doing during that intervening time. For all we know she was rehabbing her injuries and never saw combat again. For all we know her mental break-down required years of therapy to put her back together (she did watch her friend get eaten after all), and she's been sent far away from the front lines as she can't handle real combat.

But anyways, there's no point belaboring this issue, since as you say, the upcoming episode will probably shed some light on this subject.

Yui is still a soldier or did you forget that part as well? It doesn't take 3 years to recover from her injuries which weren't even that serious. Considering that Japan has a shortage of pilots and she suffered through the 8 minutes of death(Which is a rite of passage) that means she will be used at every chance they can get since she's a proven pilot and 3 years later she still isn't dead. That says a lot about her ability.

Well she was more of a trainee during the battle for Kyoto to be fair. She and her friends were stationed at a resupply base away from the frontlines for that exact reason, which didn't turn out to be a safe place.

You're also assuming a lot since we don't actually have any concrete evidence to prove. You could be right, maybe Yui did spend the three years battling the BETAs or maybe she spent some time in a psychiatric ward after the Battle of Kyoto. The point is we don't know and are waiting for the next episode to shed some light on the issue.

She's in the goddam Imperial Royal Guards. Even if you are from a powerful family, your not accepted into it without a certain degree of skill, nor are you given a private TSF. They are the elites of the Japanese Army. Everyone in Yukon Base has a lot of skills, which is why they were chosen to be sent. Why would they send some rookie pilot to test TSF'S?

I didn't say she isn't skilled, I am simply saying that we don't really know what happened to her during those three years. Yes, we can assume that because of her rank and position she must have done something to achieve those accomplishments, but what exactly we don't know. The next episode will then likely help expand her background a bit more so we can understand her side of things better. So please calm down.

The Next episode will not show more Yui's background, if it decides to follow the LN.
Spoiler:

TL;DR Yui will start going slowly tsundere

The anime certainly hasn't told us what Yui has been doing the last 3 years, but the implications at the end of ep 2 I see are: while Yui was injured it seems relatively light (she seemed to get up and walk around right away) and the strong implication is that she recovered mentally and refocused her determination to win and not give up. This is very much not the attitude of someone who is going to curl up into a ball for 3 years.

I was re-watching bits of ep 1 yesterday and was reminded that her father is/was a legendary TSF designer (he seems to have been still alive prior to the time skip) - most famously for the Zuikaku apparently. Given we see Yui working on TSF development in ep 3, maybe she decided that the best way to beat the BETA was not to kill them personally but follow in her father's footsteps and help improve weapons...

Yui seems wholly focused on defeating the BETA and probably doesn't care about TSF vs TSF combat so much... while Yuuya's training experience seems to be the opposite.

It's due to America's mentality. If you read the VN you would know, but you probably didn't so I'll explain.

America is generally a antagonist, as a goverment most of the time in Muv-Luv. Although some may call it Anti-american, Muv-Luv often times sheds light on heroic american soldierss, who fall victim to their goverment.

The Americans chose the F-22 raptor, and most of their TSF's are geared toward TSF vs TSF combat. This is because they wish to remain the world superpower even when the BETA are annihilated (Which, oh boy was a terrible prediction).

Quoting a Anon
The whole point of Project Prominence is data gathering on TSF tactics and units used by the various world powers in order to improve America's anti-TSF tactics, probably someone in London and Paris discovered it and they rightfully decided against sending their latest models.

In short she's insulting him by indirectly saying that he's not worth the effort to go all out ?

no he "passed" her test. So basically once he proven himself to her to be capable, Yui ends the fight. it will probably be in ep5.

In EP5(CR), Hime Yui lost her TSF's sword i.e. Yuuya ends the fight.

Yuuya himself said that she could have taken him out any time but she did not. Taris who is an expert at close quarter combat won against Yuuya. You could say that she had a superior machine. If that's the case, let us say that Yuuya's skill in CQC is probably equal to Tarisa. Yui took out Tarisa and the others effortlessly yet fought against Yuuya for a while.

Under pressure, Yuuya mastered some moves that resulted with Yui's disarming. Yui made a comment about this.

Actually to be correct. He disarm her but the one that stopped the fight was the Command center. Although it was hinted that the command center was in cahoots with Yui and allowed her to fight.

what i meant was that she choose not to continue the fight, thus conceeding to his victory, since he passed. Due to certain "weapons" on the Takemikazuchi, even without her sword she could still win with ease.

Yui did have the result she wanted, to have Yuuya become one with the japanese TSF, pretty much a swim or sink method. (orz)

Ibrahim, the commander of the Argos squad was fine with it; there's a good chance that the other upper officials were aware and approved the special "training exercise."

Considering his comment "White Fang One, are you satisfied with the outcome?" It was an out of OPs training.

And WHITE FANG ONE! All who played the VN PV should recognize her call sign. Felt my heart flutter to get this omake since the sequence was removed.
