I'm loving the manga (haha, the two chapters worth of it anyway). Too bad the anime character designs don't quite seem to live up to the manga artstyle, but I am definitely in for this. Strike Witches managed to blow me away with the first season and some parts of the second, after all.

Well, the "Girls Und Panzer" manga only has two chapters, but it seems there's a prequel manga called "Girls Und Panzer - Little Army" which also has two chapters scanlated. So it's four chapters worth

I mean, a world where tank vs tank battles are a high school girls sport, and "Panzerkraft", aka the art of operating and fighting tanks is a school curriculum?

I gave the manga a read and I'm really looking forward to this now.

When you read a line like this "Panzerkraft, along with flower arranging and tea ceremony, is one of the treasured arts of the ideal Japanese woman" you know your in for a good time

Possibly the best girls doing cute show but with tanks!

Tanks everywhere!

Somehow, when I first ran across the Girls und Panzer manga it seems I only happened to see the prequel manga yesterday. lol, as for the manga for the main story, though, it doesn't seem quite up to the prequel's quality. Hmm, too bad, although I guess it also sorta makes sense if the same material is going to be covered in the anime.

In any case, yes, the whole "Panzercraft is one of the traditional arts of the ideal Japanese Woman" thing is gold. You can't go wrong with a premise that absurdly awesome.

I gave them both a read. Shame that there's only two chapters each. Personally I like Little Army more but the other one feels more action packed.

And driving tanks is quite a dangerous sport, don't you think?

Not much more dangerous than driving monster trucks, BMX, or high-speed water sport. Not much more dangerous than any motor sport really. The only difference is that you have a large cannon at your disposal, and given that they seem to fire inert rounds for Panzercraft (powder shells most likely from presentation), it's not like there's a chance of killing anyone with your weapons when everyone's sealed the hatches.

In fact, due to the relative slowness of many tanks, it's actually safer than the above mentioned motorsports. The only dangers would be from environmental obstacles like pitfalls (as chapter 2 of the 'main' manga illustrated), or high-speed collisions (since WW2 era tanks aren't known for having much in the way of driver safety in that department), and the latter shouldn't be a problem considering standard tank combat tactics.

wait... so their stock vehicle will be that early Panzer IV (forgot the Aus. something) that had the snub cannon (history wise, isn't this model that was retrofitted with a better cannon since its the most susceptible to say hi to enemy armor?) and nothing less?

Yeah thats right. Excluding Fairy Tail, its been so long since I've heard her in a major role so maybe this series could be a start for her again.

It's hard to say, especially when there is sometimes barely a distinguishable difference between some of the versions, or when some of the versions only had internal changes, AND we only have a couple minutes of video to go by.

On a side note there are reasons for that.

Looks like both military(-ish) series have been picked up by Sentai. Busou Shinki and this one.
