Seems I was wrong. I was using some information from the next episode to calculate the current floor of the frontline.

Only in the third ep afaik. That's not to say that they won't be recurring, but I haven't seen them since.

Klein was shown in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th episodes. Just like Adigard said, it really was "nearly every other episode" (he did not show up in the 7th).

I tend to do that on animes that I'm not watching religiously. Makes things a bit more interesting for me. Eventually i just start going in order to avoid mroe confusion though

They were also the first characters shown in the series, as they appear in the newsreel at the start of episode 1. Klein and his guildmates are quite recognisable as they pose with their newly bought game.

It seems that the quest to look for the rare metal does require a Master Blacksmith in order to obtain it. The dragon swept Liz into its lair where the precious metal is hidden.

In the LN, it was mention that a lot of attempt was made in killing the crystal dragon but it never drop the rare metal as a monster drop.
