I gave some thought about it and I think the magic of this episode lies on the fact that they did a great job on showing and pacing how the two characters reached the conclusion. It actually feel like a real discussion of how two people helping each other out to figure out a problem. "Hey, I think it's A." "No, that explains B but not C." "How about this idea D then?" Something like that.
The problem itself is not too complicate. That also means I can watch it without having to pause and think about it. The fact that I reached the conclusion about fake notes right before Houtarou said it means my train of thought was exactly where the staffs wanted it to be. The author/writer use next to no "Eureka" moment to move the train of thought forward. The deduction process just flows. I think that's why quite a few of us swear this episode is not twenty-four but five minutes. |
