Kojima apologies as well in MGS2 Sons of Liberty for it having a very confusing plot and story.

I think a reboot of the series that is free from the plot of MGS 2, and thus, MGS 4, would be great.

My friend explained it to me before. This was revealed in interviews. I might have some details missing, but here goes: MGS 2 was basically a big "Fuck you" to Metal Gear fans. He spent some years working on MGS 1, and then it made big success. He wanted to move onto other projects, but he got overwhelming demand from fans to make a Metal Gear Solid sequel. He got involved in MGS 2 but didn't want to work on it, and then he made the plot convoluted and archaic (as well as given it other problems and making Raiden the main character instead of snake) as a "F you" to the players, and he made the storyline archaic and convoluted so that there'd be no way to work with the storyline from there. Of course, Kojima then turned back on that decision and made MGS 3 and then tried to work with the MGS 2 story with MGS 4, and he has been trying to work with the MGS storyline since then.

Yeah no. It's not going to "reboot" the series. There's no new characters or setting or anything for it to be considered such.

I don't get these "convoluted plot" complaints. I think it's all very interesting stuff and makes you use your brain. Sounds to me just like someone is butthurt and is making stuff up with those comments.

Iam thinking that it's still canon. Also I think that burned dude is Volgin, probably still alive after getting roasted.

And yes Raiden is a big F to the fans. I was like WTF?! No more Snake!?! in MSG2.

At least MGS3 redeemed the franchise and now we got this.

If you are talking about the stuff my friend told me, MGS 2 is actually his favorite in the series and he loves MGS 2.

I would welcome a reboot of the series. If it doesn't come with MGS GZ, then it won't come any time soon. I can easily go with the storyline of Metal Gear from MGS 3 to MGS 1. I try to appreciate the story for MGS 2 and MGS 4, but that doesn't happen easily. I read a thorough analysis of the story of MGS 2 and it made me appreciate MGS 2s story more, but then Kojima tries to work with that story in MGS 4 and I have complaints with some things with MGS 4. But it isn't just that MGS 2 and MGS 4 that make the Metal Gear saga archaic, then Kojima takes the MGS 2 and MGS 4 stories and adds to it with two other major installments (prequels to MGS 2 and MGS 4) that come after MGS 4 was made (MGS PW and MGS GZ), which has got to be tricky to work into the saga.

The thing is, Metal Gear is a franchise that could stand to use a reboot. I think some other series need reboots to help with their over arcing story lines, too; namely Metroid and Zelda.

I can actually see that pretty well. It WOULD explain the burns on this guy. Can anyone tell the voice actor behind this burnt man~?

I dunno if the burnt guy is Volgin (he doesn't look as big as Volgin) but I'm surprised no one is talking about the kid in the cage. That could be Solid Snake. Or Grey Fox. I expect at least Grey Fox being in this game.

Pretty sure that's Chico from Peace Walker, as he's mentioned along with Paz throughout the trailer. Not to mention that Null (young Grey Fox) was present in Portable Ops, and he was much older than the boy in the cage.

I personaly also had trouble recognizing Chico at first, as you don't really see the scar on his right cheek.

I found this interesting "clothing comparsion" picture on the metal gear wiki.

Of course I don't believe that this is Zadornov... but it's interesting non the less. Oh well... maybe.

I intend to play Peace Walker before this game releases. I hope this game isn't far from release. I hope it won't hit in November of 2013 or something. Or worse, in 2014.

While I have no idea on who the burned man is (I'll have to wait for the english version of the video to check who the VA is) I can see the kid being Chico. And if the kid is indeed Chico that means that the girl who he betrayed and who "didn't suffer long" was his sister and former/current leader of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), Amanda.
