More like, how the hell quenser and co's exploit on the battlefield seems to be known to other nation, yet the enemy elites still seems to take foot soldiers lightly. Shouldn't the enemy elites learn by now they should focus on he foot soldiers first since it will only took them several seconds to kill all the foot soldiers if they fire all their anti-personnel weapon?

Eh? Wasn't the Indigo Plasma as well as various other Objects have been firing their MAIN guns at them every single time

The ending to this chapter is noticeably more sober than previous ones- partly because both Quenser and Heivia felt physically and mentality weary after their two days Hellish mission. They certainly come off as more harden at the end of the experience but the two coins were a nice way to end the story.

Only one complaint is how it's rather too simple for them to escape the C.C base with a threat of an Object attack- while I don't think they would shoot them, there's still many things that they could subject them to.

Oh well, that one is for the Anime fans to complaint 3-4 years later I guess.

So I started reading this, and... what happened between volume 1 epilogue and volume 2 chapter 1? It felt like a massive retcon and these two just turn back into nameless grunts?

Like fighting an Object in the middle of the city with that councilor Filde guy or whatever, and why they're still private ranks and not promoted after achieving everything they did in volume 1.

The fight happened off-screen, not the same as a retcon.

And they had all of their achievements removed because they disobeyed orders.

But the removal was talked about before the off-screen fight, shouldn't they get recognized for pretty much saving the entire country dealing with the councilor that rebelled?

Without knowing what they had to do to destroy the rogue Object, there's no saying if they would even have a reward nor were they promised one in the first place. For all we know they could have blown up a major landmark, or several Noble houses, or a government building etc.

Either way it's not a retcon if it doesn't contradict any previously establish scenes.... And since it happened off screen... There's no scene to contradict.

One reason for them not being recognized is that the higher ups want to keep them right where they are. If they made them into war heroes or something, they'd have a reason to leave. The military can't let that happen, so they stay where they are.
