Seriously, you got to give the girl credit for pulling off what she did without shaking her nice girl persona, not flinching, knowing when to fold and cut loses, and basically being cocksure of her way of life. Traits which I admire in a person. All this volume did was make Manami's characterization harder to accurately define...because I think she really IS a nice girl despite the scheming-everything she says or does makes me believe that part of her is genuine, but at the same time, you can't really be SURE...and the fact that nothing explicit is stated makes her all the more fearsome. The novel pretty much explained why nobody wants to mess with her and why some of the characters hold her in high regard.

As it stands now...she's even scarier than AYASE.

Well, what does it mean to be a "nice girl"? I mean, she is outwardly friendly, pleasant, easy-going, and doesn't appear to cause waves. But, she's absolutely in control of her domain. She has rigid expectations and isn't afraid to express them when the need arises. And there's a boy that she intends to make her own and -- if not for a conspiracy of circumstances -- it would likely have happened without contest.

No one is truly "selfless". All of the girls in this story have their selfish side that conspires to get what it wants. Sometimes they succeed, and sometimes they fail. But that just makes Manami more "human". She's the kind but rigid matriarch who is nice and pleasant to everyone, but makes sure that everyone stays on the straight and narrow -- you don't want to get on her bad side. And people fall in love with those types of people all the time because some people want that sense of order and stability in their lives. That's a way to lead a peaceful life; by forcibly exorcising chaos and disorder. So that's why, to Manami, Kyousuke can't be an extraordinary person, because extraordinary people do crazy things that can get them hurt or killed. But to Kirino, she can't be satisfied with an ordinary life; she's an over-achiever and she wants someone who can run alongside her. That person used to be her older brother, which is why she admired him so. So she can't be satisfied with what Manami encouraged him to become because that isn't the brother she knew and loved; Manami placed a limiter on his true potential to keep him from getting hurt. But it's really up to Kyousuke now to choose the sort of life he wants to live and who he wants to live it with. And in making that choice, he's not necessarily being any more or any less selfish than anyone else.

I wonder if there's anyone who hates on incest more than BaKaBaKaOtaKu. I think most of us here deal with it knowing that it's just a fetish which works only in fiction/2D world.

I mean what's the point of reading this or watching YnS if they just tickle you off especially when they're so open on what they're all about... I don't want to believe that people do this just because it's fun to hate on popular things.


Anyway, I took a look at the 2ch comments and they now hate Manami for being manipulative and denying Kirino's feelings. She's become the villain of OreImo.

Food for thought: Out of all the genderswap Oreimo fanarts I've seen, so far only three examples had both a genderswapped Kyousuke and Kirino on the same page. The absolute majority was always a genderswapped Kirino and regular Kyousuke. Does this imply something?

I would say it's a reflection of the fact that she always plays eroge where she's the "Onii-chan" fawning over her "Imouto". So, in fan-fiction, that's easy to play off of. I can't see how it implies anything in particular in the canon story.

There are many people who hate incest but I guess I'm just the most vocal one in this site. Well, good for you. In my case, I'll never get what's so fascinating about het incest.

What's the point of reading this? I hate Kirino but that won't stop me knowing about this series since I like the characters that's not that bitch. I have hope for Kuroneko that's why I hold on to it. What would put me off is if Kyousuke ends up returning his bitch sister's sick love for him. YnS, I love the other routes except for Sora's for obvious reasons that's why watched it.

And no, it was never fun hating on things like this.

No offence but you sound like you would make oreimo your favorite novel in the case where Kirino loses, to whom she loses is of no importance, as long as someone other than Kirino wins Kyousuke's heart you're all set. But in the case where Kirino wins you would criticize it so much that not because your favorite character lost to Kirino but a sister with twisted love succeeded in getting together with her brother and did incest.
Disliking incest is one thing but seeing someone completely disregarding a work which I'm a fan of just because a factor is not something I can be happy about with. Not to mention that that factor is something I'm completely ok with.

It rare. I only see those kind of comments from people whom haven't read the series, or just summaries and the anime.

I think, the way I see things is different based in the form they are in the LN, and 'cause the title caught me with the "Ore no Imouto..." title.

At least, he is giving attention to the series, even if he doesn't like Kirino

I don't think at all they state they are blood-related siblings, but they also never stated that they aren't. At this point in the novel, the author can still bring it up.

Also just because you support Kirino and Kyosuke, doesn't mean you support incest. For me, I just like the grouping better and I believe its only fair that Kirino ends up with Kyosuke.
