I think your wrong here, friend if you remember ep 2 on how yui's base was over run was a simple but brilliant tactic of hook, line and sinker

-Where the defenders were drawn out leaving the base vulnerable
-using grapler and destroyer class beta for short skirmishes to kill as much units as possible and learning chain of command
-And finally counter attacking when your enemy shows its back

a truly well played sequence. if your an officer in training you'd get a grade of A for assault

With a limitless army the size of giants who needs strategy? All they have to do is fall on the humans that can't defend such a huge defense line and eventually they'll just cut through, surround, and destroy.

They can be smart and learn tactics, but not individually.
I mean, they work like the Zergs, if you know what i mean.

Isn't that tactic similar to a Scorpion Maneuver ?

It was something done on more like predatory instinct. What I mean is they don't draw up complex plans or campaigns. On the ground when they hunt they have obviously a level of cunning that matches any individual unit but it doesn't mean on the whole scale they are as aggressive

Strategically, not all Hives have Lasers nor do they make wide front assaults. Else Kamchatka would have been overrun already. In Ep 2 the invasion force also had far more resources than the current one. They are really more like a giant hammer overall than anything.

And where is Koubuin Yuuhi sisters... they just showed one scene of her in the first episode when she was reviewing the plan for the Takemikazuchi Unit with Yui's father. Any fan of the novel or the game, knows that she is one of the main heroines, the same as Yui. I checked the official website and it seem they changed the image for 94 Shiranui Ichigata Hei with XFJ-01a Shiranui Nigata images for the main Unit and posted it as the main theme for the BG. But XFJ-01a Shiranui Nigata comes later on in the story. They even show some specific parts of its model.
So guys what do you think?
those sisters arnt important characters untill october in the main games

and y didnt yui just cut that cannon in half and i thought that when yui went running out of the cammand center she was getting her machine
nd i think i heard the takemichazuchi cant hold the cannon
those damn tanks are the real threat to tfs once they get ahold of u the dont let go then its time to start arming the sds

lasers are a pain destroyers are easy to avoid graplers moderate tanks stay away from

Im gonna assume some things:
- Takemikazuchi is at Alaska's Base. (She went there as a member of the command group)
- 99 Second is under maintenance
- How to "cut the cannon in half"? she said the core parts had heat resistance (thus nullifying the use of conventional means of "industrial" cutting) and that soldier that stayed back also told her he would need more time to dismantle the parts she requested.

Again, im assuming things, from what i remember (im at work)

I agree. Observe Episode 2. Most of Yui's squad got wiped because of the Laser Classes. I'd presume that amongst TSF pilots, Laser classes are one of the most frequent ways to die.

They show up enough that dedicated Wild Weasel squadrons exist to hunt them down; cf Shwarzesmarken. It's been repeatedly mentioned throughout the Kamchatka arc that the lack of Laser-class is odd, but nobody is going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

That said, IIRC Laser deployment is prioritised to protect the hives first, and escort BETA waves second.

Also, while some dismiss the BETA assaults as a Zerg Rush... this is a Zerg Rush with Ultralisks. Or Mammoth Tanks.

Good Episode with Yui-hime in center spot but I can't take this total eclipse seriously with those lame beta fight. No laser class? and a small horde..... maybe I've been taken much with the games battle and specially that the guy there is also a newbie and his first fight is intense compare to this battle.... the BETA battle for me was a meh!

The only good thing to look for is Yui and more Yui and also how to screw the soviet soldiers. I was also accustomed that a certain powerful country is the one who always do the screwing so its funny when the said country is being left in the rear line

I'll paste a theory I came up with and posted somewhere else.

Context reminder: Game-changing weapon prototype was given to the small time princess UN officer to test in the Russian frontlines. That weapon belongs to the Japanese Imperial Army, NOT the UN Army.

Thoughts and Clues:

- The Japanese Goverment agreed that the trials took place at Kamchatka (EP8). "Why" can be either a plot-hole or a plot-point. This is fishy. Yui, as a developer, was against this. What do they gain by taking this big risk?

- BETA attacked from underground not too long ago. Soviets should have filled those holes, but didn’t. That's why this new attack was unnoticed due to the lack of tremors. How did they time the BETA invasion that well (while the whole flight was testing) is a big mystery here. I hope it will be addressed in the following episode, because the fact that you can't predict BETA behavior is a core concept in MuvLuv.

- They hid the information about the last attack from the Argos flight and all this implies that they knew that Takamura was bringing the Imperial Army prototype cannon to their base a long time ago.

- Now who leaked that info? Cryska/Inia/Yuuya being Russian spies is an previously discarded nonsense. Then, what if someone from the inside Imperial Army wanted the trials to go wrong? We only know Takamura's uncle (Iwata). He's a high ranking official in the Imperial Army Ministry of Technology. If I remember correctly, he was the one that encouraged Yui to take on this task. How involved is him on this ploy? If it wasn’t him, then who?

- And finally, a big clue: The PROMINENCE project leader asked for all the Argos flight to be deployed for this test. That puts him on a bad light because it is now extremely convenient for the Russians that the Shirnaui 2nd is too far from the base. This is what leaves no other option but to leave the weapon there.

In the end, it seems that UN higher ups don’t want Japan to get so strong and are working along the Russians and someone from the Imperial Army for this. Arghos flight is just a pawn and knew nothing (this includes Dhal/Kiritsugu). Latrova's unit seems to be the Russian's sacrifice for this to work out.

If this is true, I wonder what is going through that woman's head right now? What will Latrova do next week after talking about being blind to the big picture?

Fuck yea. This is what I wanted. Mechs, Action and Politics and we are starting to get that in full force now. Pretty solid episode, and given the circumstances, I can totally understand why people are acting like assholes to each other. It's war you see .

Unfortunately, it is somewhat hindered due to random boob/ass shots and "QUALITY" scenes from time to time.

If mankind is not facing extinction, It understandable, the higher up treat the BETA invasion as war, but in actually it as fight against extinction .. it suck while a good number of competent people have to sacrificed in other for a few corrupt and nefarious groups to get what they want

Sorry, you need to read the background on this episode here. This is what happens when the director has no idea how to script political and war drama. Things get missed out.

Do read more of the posts here, it provides a large source of non-spoiler background to the existing plot.

I'm not sure how it is understandable for people to fuck each other up, whether humanity is dying or not. The fact it happens in the real world all too often shows how far humanity is declining.

I had already read that and the guy speaks wonders about the anime.

Quote:
In general, the Total Eclipse anime has been a successful adaptation thus far, staying true to the source material while always keeping in mind where things need to be changed to work better as an anime. Giving additional time to scenes that play to the medium’s strengths, while cutting scenes that would drag down a 24-minute episode. A lot of anime adaptations simply throw what was in the source material directly onto the screen, with little consideration for the difference between a television show and other media. I admire that the Total Eclipse anime has been putting in real work in making sure that the anime flows well, independent of the original novels.
He even complains about how the LN failed to portray what was going on.

Why do you think both Directors did a poor job with this arc? IMO it was pretty good, it felt very "MuvLuv". The new director worked on the last 2 episodes.

I was wondering since some of your theory have been disproved by the post and stuff the anime has covered. I'll just post some quick points here, if thats ok.

Spoiler for TE anime stuff:

sry i missed to point out the important part ( sorry dyslexic missed out a few sentences) the reason is very simple, to one up the other nation/ corporation, humans greed at it worst , the simple reason is so easy to understand ..

Guess only in LN you can truly understand whats happening behind the scenes
