Hahahahahaahah that's how I started too! Exactly like that! As Silvance already said: Have more confidence.

Just experiment with brushes, different backgrounds and C4D's. After you got the hang of that, you could try to play with the gradient maps and adjust the saturation/levels. Just naming a few things that I do normally, when making a signature

Primarily: Follow tutorials! AnimeSuki also has a great tutorial thread. It's definitely worth checking out. You might even try to do some animations. I would love to have some more colleagues around here

And if you have any questions, you can always ask them in there.

Hmmm... Actually, I made a black bordered one but... I failed to rechecked (it was 102x102) Anyway I'm planning to have pink as my signature border... hehehe. They could request they color of the border if they want.. it'll be ok...

@ GenjiChan, it's a nice sig here, the text could be reworked tought; more sleek text, closer of the lower right corner might be a good idea.

Thanks... Actually, to be honest.. text designing is one of my weakness... I can't make impressive text using GIMP (or it's just me who lacks knowledge) hahaha...

Good experiment with the borders and the shadows. The shadows do make the avatars 3D. What gets me though is that the border somehow feels a bit "rough" and sharp. You could use different colours for each avatar as well

. Like using the sample tool to get the colours of their eyes to use the colour as the border

I'm current playing with 3 frames for my next signature. Honest guys, I was amazed myself... They are from three frames and jumble randomly in different sequences...

Now I can't choose which to use or even if I need to put text too....

If I had to choose, I would go for the second ( less distraction ) or the fourth ( colors work a little more better on this one). Way too much bright sparks/stars on the third even f the fourth have the same issue.
