BTW, on a somewhat unrelated note, I've actually started playing through the sequel myself since this past weekend (don't bother asking me about plot spoilers, though.... even if I wanted to post them, my limited knowledge of Japanese prevents me from doing do). Right now I'm at the third chapter's trial. The only thing I will say about it right now that it actually somehow manages to succeed in being CRAZIER than the first game......

Eh... We have Danganronpa thread here?! I have never known about this...!

Anyway, seeing you guys have the LP from orenoren, I'll just have a complete zip on my lips and see how you guys react in the last climax Though... Yeah, I think I'm gonna see some backlash when the translation is fully done...

And just for the record, 2nd installment was GLORIOUS. And no, I'm not spoiling for that since there is no way you are gonna enjoy it if you are spoiled of the elements. And I hath no regret in pre-ordering the 2nd Box set as well this time. >v</ (Though lol @ Amazon not giving me the Usami strap, not that I mind since my Monokuma strap is scary lol)

P.S: Pimping that the game is actually available in JP iStore and Google Play now Anyone with iPad or compatible android, just grab the game and follow orenoren's translation--it's worth all the excitement that cannot be translated into just reading the LP and listening to the voices while looking at screenshots! (Though iunno about crashes, some reported that there are iPhone users that just hanged in the middle... *shrugs*)

Anyways, I want to say that I also finished the sequel recently and found it really awesome (though admittedly my lack of Japanese knowledge prevents me from finding it even MORE awesome than I did during my time playing it.... but thankfully, oren already confirmed that he'll get to work on the sequel after finishing the first game's LP ). Naturally, you aren't gonna hear any spoilers from me either, but I WILL say that my favorite characters from the sequel are Tanaka and Nidai, no contest.


It's also cool how it has a lot more unlockable content than the first game did (for instance, after beating the game once you unlock an in-game novel called "Danganronpa IF"..... which I believe is supposed to be a "what-if" story of sorts that's written by the author of Durarara. Sounds real interesting. Can't wait to see that translated too (along with DR Zero, the novel that serves as a prequel to the series).) But for now, I'll just patiently wait for oren to finish his LP of the first title.....

Ahah... To not spoil much about it, Narita basically emulates all the characters' personality from 1 quite well (subjectively said, I'll say that it's almost perfect characterization lol). And it has so much awesome fighting scenes ^o^

As for the content:

It basically takes a stand at what if a certain character in episode 1 did not die, and Naegi actually obtained the cheat tool super rare present from the MonoMachine gachas: the exit switch. (lol no this is not plot related item--it's the present you get for a 'bonus' movie (well, very short movie........) for the ending.) Oh and Naegi being the real heroine of DR1

The Usami/Monomi minigame! I love how goofy it is (and the way you kill enemies by running rings around them kinda makes me think of Sega's "Nights Into Dreams"). It's also really cool that those robots Monobear summoned in the main story are the bosses.....


And speaking of Monomi, her theme music is easily one of my top favorite (new) tracks in the game. I still like Monobear's theme better, but Monomi's sure comes darned close!

Now that we've reached this point, I guess I should talk a little about my experience here when I first played the title. See, despite me having limited knowledge of Japanese, my gut feelings compelled me to betray Kirigiri (even if I couldn't read much of the text, I can at least follow the context). And goodness gracious me, was I ever shocked by that bad ending! I was pretty amazed by Naegi's execution vid when I first saw it, too. Though I still wonder even now: Did Kirigiri's execution all take place in Naegi's mind? Because if so, it's kind of amazing that he knew exactly which execution method Monobear would use.....




Anyways, I'm sure that all the Chihiro fans out there are feeling pretty gleeful right about now.

Personally, I think the bad ending and the Kirigiri's punishment is kind of like a meta rather than taking in place in Naegi's mind. It's supposed to tell the players to trust Kirigiri, even if it endangers Naegi's life in the exchange since this is case really the perperator's (Monokuma's) set up just to frame someone.

Of course, the writer might just want to show the CERO-D implication of the bad ending.

There might be an explanation somewhere in either the fanbook or the exclusive interviews with the writer, but I hath not the visual fanbook nor have the incentive to search for the interviews Maybe once I got to replay DR1...

Heh, I can't really argue with Komaeda's comment, though I do have to say that the twist is that his fans amped up the creepiness aspect of his lmfao What I don't understand is how in the world he actually surpassed Tanaka or Hinata in the male voter division, actually, since I was under the impression the guy should be hated by many males since a.) fujoshi bait b.) creep spotlight stealer or something. It's quite the mystery lol

Nidai's low rank is mostly thanks to how much 'shita neta' (or dirty joke, if I can translate that) lobbed through the guy. See, he basically spent chapter 1 doing "KUSO GAAAAA", the kuso being literal. And he hardly have contribution to the class trials or even investigations. By the time his plot twist happen, no one had too much investment on him. That and Tanaka overshadowed him by miles in chapter 4 lol.

I personally don't dislike Nidai, but I can see why he is not popular just like both Owari and Teruteru. Something more of 'there are better characters for me *points at other 10* than this character' and 'too much of dirty jokes tyvm' than 'I dislike the guy'.

And to add vote of confidence, Kodaka (the writer) and the artist whose name escape me atm do like Nidai a lot!

(Trivial details include the staffs making a jab on who is more popular: Tanaka or his Four Darkry) BAH TOO LONG, 4 HAMSTERS KINGS. Sugita is an awesome chuuni, period. \o/)

There is also one Famitsu report that goes into small details on the Q&A section (I haven't take a look on it, but it seems to be limited thanks to the report swore on not much spoilers XD;; ) and the talk about the concept of Danganronpa-again, very summarized and non-full spoiler-and a lot of the creators comment.

The one info that practically made me go 'what' is the fact that they actually haven't made SDR2 game up to the end of April 2012 and just Q&C (or master up, to say in the development terms) it one week before the release date! And it seems that DR1 was actually on the same situation as well, lol. Cross referencing it with some interviews, I suspect the staffs were focusing on getting the scenario really finalized before going into crashing deadlines www

Getting a lot of Monomedals, some presents and two unique skills.

Aim to get Monokuma (Zetsubou level 8, Kibou Level Max before the pet goes into cocoon) and Usami (Zetsubou Level 0, Kibou level Max, same thing with Monokuma's) since those two are the ones that have the unique skills. Particularly Monokuma's--it's the skill that stops the crosshair from having random movements.

Not sure what you meant here, CE If it's about the skill being needed in island exploring or main plot, nope. All of them are used in Class Trials. Pets are purely optional stuff

Ah, I see. I don't think they are vital enough to warrant a 'finish it soon', both skills are pretty much just there to make Classroom Trial much easier from being a hassle level.

I'll say to pick up Peko's skill (aka complete her KnK) as fast as you can though; the Objection Showdowns can be brutal without her skill. Notice that you will later get a limit in slashing words, and chapter 4... Is pure evil incarnation of Objection Showdowns
