Hmm as for the whole Hijiri theory and based on what Liese said I bet Hijiri created the original black sun and gave sora to arata to spare his life and test if Arata could use magic. What i expect to happen is arata eventually masters the powers of all the trinity seven including Mira's and rescues Liese then Hijiri comes and steals the grimoire and the magic king power from arata and with the new power becomes magic king and creates a massive black sun that will absorb everyone and its up to arata to re-learn magic and find a way to defeat hijiri

I agree to that. Battles are not that great.

In addition, whilst it's fun the story doesn't take itself too seriously, I think it should take itself at least somewhat seriously. The characters tend to act random at dire times, in which you'd expect them being on their edge. It can be fun, but the manga does it so much that it breaks any suspension of disbelief for me.

This manga, so far, has been running on its gimmicks, but a story can only do it for so long. Unless the story develops a good plot, and I'm hoping it will, the gimmicks will become old and the whole thing, at least for me, will become rather boring.

Considering that Hijiri is still there and the supposed Magic Academy turned to ruins is not in ruins then they manage to travel back in time...
that aside...
The manga itself seems to lessen the airs/gravity of the situation around the main character and by extension to its readers by its gimmicks even if sever events are happening around his world...
As long as they don't get sidetracked by their own gimmicks then it's fine...

Probably she used her doppelganger to faking her own disappearance, or making alternate dimensions for herself to hide for the time being.

Its just that this is the first time it's fully directed to Arata...
Her dere form is cute and charming so turning her from her usual characteristics either 90 or 180 is nice as long as they didn't overuse it...

It was explained in the chapter...the Fake Hijiri often took Hijiri's place taking care of Arata when Hijiri was busy with magic stuff..
