Is it intentional that Oda made Hordy a hypocrite who can't even see beyond what's in his mind? His abilities are definitely chosen from heaven, given all the heavenly drugs he takes.

That Red Hawk Punch is too good, and I don't really see how Hordy was chosen by Heaven.. I mean he's just taking a load of drugs to make him stronger and is constantly getting ripped by Luffy. Wonder how many more drugs Hordy can take until he goes insane and take down Noah xD.

Brook and info about his powers were interesting.
It's also kinda sad that he's stuck like that forever.
Luffy vs Hordy.
I wish they would move the fight to land so Luffy could properly kick his ass.
The water battle was pretty impressive too.
Chopper kinda overdid it with his size ^^"
That Hordy just refuses to die...

The episode gave a lot of info on how Brook and Chopper's abilities got better. Luffy's Red Hawk was awesome! Loved it when he punched hordy so hard. xD EPIC!
I wish hordy would just stop snacking on the drugs and die already. He should just give up since everytime luffy punches him, he ends up in pain or dying which then leads him to the drugs.

Luffy vs Hordy! The final battle!
Those pills Hordy was taking sure made him insanely strong.
Straw Hats still fighting those fishman pirates..
Looks like it's still not over.. this fishman arc.

I haven't been so pissed while watching a One Piece episode in a long, long time...the only reason I kept watching was because of the crew's finishing moves which was well done for the most part (though they failed to add a detail I loved, in the manga Chopper's attack literally left a palm imprint on Dosun's body which showed the power it carried).

But what pissed me off was Luffy's fight with Hody on the deck. I understand that they had to make up something to buy time but making up that part of the battle was a horrible choice in my honest opinion.
In the manga, after Hody got hit by the first Red Hawk he was sent into Noah's deck, he took pills but even then it was obvious that he was done (it showed just how powerful Red Hawk really was if it had that effect while underwater even). After that Luffy jumped into the bubble and used Elephant Gun (followed by Gatling) while Hody used his Shark attack and missed. It was that...just that, no fighting and no apparent comeback from Hody, he was mostly done for after Red Hawk anyway.

One thing I loved about this arc was how overwhelming the Strawhats were against the New Fishman pirates, it was clear through the whole arc that there was a major and clear gap between them and that even two years ago the Strawhats had a strong chance of beating them in the same situation.
But what the anime has been doing at times is ruin this by extending fights that should not be extended in order to use more time in the episode. The same thing happened in the Zoro vs Hody fight, in the manga it was just one panel...one second they started the fight and the other Zoro was cutting Hody down it was so one-sided that many began wondering on the spot if a stronger and true enemy was going to show up in the arc with the NFP being the fodder.
Even Luffy's whole fight with Hody, it was mostly well done while they started on land, the only problem Luffy had was how sturdy Hody was, nothing else.

But what do we have this episode? Luffy lands on the deck and even has a pretty even fight with Hody...hell, the characters even thought he was losing at one point. What is this bullshit? Where's the overwhelming difference in power? Why the hell was it necessary to use a second Red Hawk that didn't even finish the match? Why was Hody beating Luffy in speed and power while on land?
If they wanted to waste time there were other ways to do it, better ways to do it...fucking hell, they love flashbacks so much...just add one or something| It would have been much better than extending the fight with in this total BS way.
The fight pissed me off so much I could barely enjoy the Crew's finishing moves and that's one of my favorite parts of the arc in the manga.

^ I couldn't agree with you more, Randrak42. And the sad thing is that we're going to be seeing more of this kind of bullshit all the time since the anime staff have no idea what they're doing. This is just another reason to go with the manga; the anime skews the viewers perceptions of certain scenes which is just a no-no.

Also, I was eagerly anticipating this episode for a good while because I really wanted to see how the anime would deliver the strawhats' finishing moves. They turned out to not be as impactful/devastating as their manga counterparts, which is unfortunate. They lacked that "oomph" and looked somewhat weak.

Oh, so that's what happened. I was wondering why Hordy kept on coming back and was fighting at an incredible level. I thought he should have died on a drug overdose a long time ago, and really shut up about his abilities being a gift from the heavens.

Well, here is to hoping for a filler arc to come up and allow the anime to go back to how it was before.

Why are people even surprised nowadays?
They have cut down the budget for quite some while now.

They don't even have money for real filler episodes.

The anime has died for me after Sabaody (first time).

*sigh* I'd probably have stopped watching the anime by now if it wasn't One Piece, it really killed off the "this is how strong the Strawhat's have gotten" mood after Hody had a whole other fight with him. Course, this isn't the first time they've changed the anime for the worse in my opinion.

Spoiler for Example back in Marineford:

Honestly... I really miss those filler arcs. I'm almost at the point where I'd wouldn't care if they took the Dragonball Z way of extending episodes..... well, almost~

Quality of One Piece Anime is really bad, that is so true!

It used to be much better.

Such a shame.

Anime filler writers problem is follows. They love status quo and hate character growth, they love certain episode guidelines, hate long-term storytelling and nyances and tips to audience.

They don't take funny series seriously or audience seriously. If they need filling, they make Luffy weak, slow, more dumb and in contrast enemy more durable, more numerous and anything that makes episodes last longer.

They think, that everything is fine as long as certain episode guidelines are met, certain shounen cliches have recycled and routines done.

The way filler writers love status quo, is painfully obvious what comes to Naruto, in One Piece however they use more general status quo and that status quo of shounen genre... and that what was applied in Fishman Island. Hody was upgraded to be formidable villain, even he was suppose to be just fodder on steroids. And Luffy was downgraded to typical shounen protagonist in trouble to get some drama.

However that all just looked made up and ridiculous, we all know what they are doing. This kind of brain farts are written usually for some "pokemon"-type animes, which are nothing more than stories to sell toys, so the script is just a load of s*t.

The first half of the episode was essentially Luffy breaking up the Noah and people watching. It was not that exciting. Then the second half happened, and yeah, that was awesome. Way to go, Shirahoshi! Although, I do have to wonder, it seems like Luffy is developing a heart condition. I hope he does not end up like Gol D. Rogers.

Well I'm just glad we didn't have to actually wait for Luffy to destroy the whole ship. That thing is freaking huge . Good save by Shirahoshi. I knew that ability was going to come in handy eventually. The important lesson is that one shouldn't use a crazy attack for a very long time while having huge gaping injuries thanks to a shark bite. Luffy will be fine of course though.

I dont understand why you guys think the anime is bad or atleast worse than the manga..

You always say Manga is the only true and best way..

- Why is it wrong that the anime showed a stronger hordy than in the manga? I mean they fought the most time in the water.. That should show us how strong luffy got.

- In the anime they showed how strong the strawhats are.. They finished their enemys almost with 1 hit. They just didnt used their full power.. why should they? they dont even need their full power..

In my opinion the anime is pretty good, especially the last 3-4 episodes.

The new Fish-man pirates finally defeated.
Well, the Noah problem was still there though.
One again it was all on Luffy.
At least everyone was cheering him on.
Destroying Noah himself was just amazing!
His strength has increased so very much.
Luckily Shirahoshi used Sea Kings.

^@Aurus There is always going to be lots of people who like filler quality in shounen animes as like I suppose you do. Actually your point "You always say Manga is the only true and best way" pretty much proves that.

People like me however appreciate more absolute adaption of original work. We hope to preserve each and every nyance of the original work that it would as much as possible to bring out the mangaka's orginal style also what comes to story telling.

I personally feel that anime is bad when it fails to play out the exact level of baddassery and hint of power levels as mangaka initially meaned them to be.

I know it is very difficult to make anime fan to understand what is missing in anime adaption, because they have usually accepted the level of anime as level of whole series and when they like it, they usually also defend what they like.

But those who are focused to get correct adaption with same level of quality than original work, just can't accept downgrade of those details that make them respect the series.

The pace of actions in anime is probably the worst thing. During the war, Luffy was like slowest person of universe. And when Oda has made a point on manga that Zoro or Luffy is overhelming, it must be overhelming also on anime, but that seems to not be on anime teams interests anymore.. in past they didn't fail on this ever.

The reason why I complain is that I loved kick ass animation in one peace. Luffy's fight with Lucci was awesome to watch. Now they would make Luffy run two weeks in between of every turn of battle. Some awesome point like when Franky passed by Lucci who tried to stop him just to see his ass getting kicked by Luffy... they would have ruined it now for sure.

Anyways.. people who like fillers. You just never going to get it. You like the same things that anime filler writers do, cliches, recycling and status-quo. Sorry if this offenses anybody.

ps. I want to point out also one factor which I think proves my point. As manga One Piece has no competition... as anime it falls behind both Bleach and Naruto.
