People like me however appreciate more absolute adaption of original work. We hope to preserve each and every nyance of the original work that it would as much as possible to bring out the mangaka's orginal style also what comes to story telling.

I personally feel that anime is bad when it fails to play out the exact level of baddassery and hint of power levels as mangaka initially meaned them to be.

I know it is very difficult to make anime fan to understand what is missing in anime adaption, because they have usually accepted the level of anime as level of whole series and when they like it, they usually also defend what they like.

But those who are focused to get correct adaption with same level of quality than original work, just can't accept downgrade of those details that make them respect the series.

The pace of actions in anime is probably the worst thing. During the war, Luffy was like slowest person of universe. And when Oda has made a point on manga that Zoro or Luffy is overhelming, it must be overhelming also on anime, but that seems to not be on anime teams interests anymore.. in past they didn't fail on this ever.

The reason why I complain is that I loved kick ass animation in one peace. Luffy's fight with Lucci was awesome to watch. Now they would make Luffy run two weeks in between of every turn of battle. Some awesome point like when Franky passed by Lucci who tried to stop him just to see his ass getting kicked by Luffy... they would have ruined it now for sure.

Anyways.. people who like fillers. You just never going to get it. You like the same things that anime filler writers do, cliches, recycling and status-quo. Sorry if this offenses anybody.

ps. I want to point out also one factor which I think proves my point. As manga One Piece has no competition... as anime it falls behind both Bleach and Naruto.
Thank you, really!

For some reason you made me feel like "hey.. maybe I should try to read more manga

The main reasons for me (and probably for some other people) watching anime instead of reading manga are:
- I love japanese language and the sync
- I love the soundtracks in fights or in emotional scenes
- Color.. everything seems to me more clear.. probably by habit

But well I'm going off topic, anyway thanks for your opinion!

They think, that everything is fine as long as certain episode guidelines are met, certain shounen cliches have recycled and routines done.

...

However that all just looked made up and ridiculous, we all know what they are doing. This kind of brain farts are written usually for some "pokemon"-type animes, which are nothing more than stories to sell toys, so the script is just a load of s*t.
Don't blame filler scenarists for the hard job they have to make: write a good arc with limited budget (it's a filler) and no change to any characteristic to any character or plot past and yet to come.
Because, yes, even the mangaka doesn't always know what will happen to his own world in a year or two. Or even in a few weeks...
To prevent any plothole, there's only one way: statu quo. But since you need some novelty: add characters of your own, and be sure they will never show up again (so they won't alter the manga plotline by their sole existence).

That's why fillers are so shitty. It's not the writers' fault, only the constraints of telling a story about a story being told.

The sad part with One Piece is, they could make fillers even better: put aside the main characters, and write about adventures/daily lifes of side-characters. We already get some hintsights of those through the manga covers, and we could easily expand them.
But strangely, it rarely happens.

@Aurus, Yeah I am aware of the plus sides of anime too, but problem was the dropped quality, not animes vs manga in general.

@mtarzaim, I know that the budget and plot is tiding and it makes actual filler episodes less entertaining, but I wasn't talking about that, I was talking about quality of One Piece anime adpation and how the episodes are extended nowadays.

I was underlining that fillings of episode should never be added by the cost or original work as they have happened in One Piece. When Oda makes a point in manga it should remain that way in anime too, and not become like general recycled boss fight when protagonist gets trouble and villain gets upperhand. Ok, I have seen like 200 series of anime and I notice recycled scenes like in few nanoseconds and they really irritate me, especially when the original story did not use them.

If Hody gets owned in manga, but in anime actually gets Luffy in big problems, it makes whole conversations here on forum totally useless, if some people who reads manga thinks Hody super weak and those who follow anime actually think he is quite formidable at least when super dozed, thats leading conversations out of consensus, because there are no common ground.

I am critisizing how the fillers are made, I know they could be better and they have been better. One Piece anime actually was quite good in the past but now it's made very cheaply in various ways, but manga is almost as good as it always was and cap between these two is getting wider.

Well... anime team seems to consider One Piece mainly as funny, not cool or great. That's why focus is on goofing around, not on bad assery. Dragonball Z fillers are all about bad assery and I liked them much more than this.

Thank God it's over...Thank God...

Don't know what's next, but it's gotta be better than this, god-willing with better pacing...Never thought an arc could ever make me wanna see Thriller Bark again, but I'd watch that sipping tropical coconut juice over the Hordy arc again...The problem with this arc (Besides the mind destroying pacing) was that it was so, what's the word? Meaningless...

I mean I really don't care about these fish people at all...Except for the Drukken Octopuss dude, he was cool (although they nerfed him ridiculously)...

Nerfing Hyouzou? No my friend, if the anime did any nerfing it was done on Luffy (or rather they buffed Hody up too much). Hyouzou had a cool first appearance what with poisoning Luffy and whatnot but that was pretty much it. In fact, how can you say they nerfed the guy when he received the SAME power-up that Hody got (the OD on steroids)?
Granted, back in the manga I still thought he would have been cooler if he were as strong without resorting to steroids, but he was no different than the other commanders.

The arc isn't over yet, one of the best parts is to come in the next one or two episodes.

As for the next arc...provided they don't go into a filler arc (since the next arc hasn't even finished in the manga yet) it is far better than this arc and it had a much faster pace in the manga, though I dunno how they will handle it in the anime.

Shirahoshi and Sea Kings are a good combination.
Looks like Luffy has an interesting power on top of his other powers.
Straw Hats got exonerated form the whole Mermaid kidnapping thing.
It was about time too!
Luffy was pretty seriously hurt. Luckily Jimbei helped out.

Well, at least the subs in the current episode 568 were done by someone capable of understanding japanese, unlike the manga back then...
So much speculation and rage from the manga chapter back then because two different translations lead to completely different interpretations of the dialogues and events that transpired in this episode. Well at least to those that follow both medias can watch the anime translation done right, now we have to see how Viz translates the manga chapters.

Perfect. Ended great. We understand some importance of Noah, Shirahoshi's power and the role of the Sea Kings. Fish Man Island back to zero the moment Jimbei and Luffy transferred blood. Straw Hats finally cleared of the accusation of kidnapping Mermaids.
Now all we need to look forward to is the gratitude of King Neptune and his citizens and guards and family, A BIG FEAST (this was promised since the beginning) and what the next island they must go to is in order to get to ONE PIECE!

I must say...I like the transfusion scene very much, finally an anime only addition that I've liked this arc.

The transfusion scene was pretty nice. Can always count on Jimbei. Certainly a good symbolic start for that island.

The invitation wasn't much of a surprise either. Pirate, no crew, nothing really to do anyways, and Luffy's friend. Could certainly use someone on his level going forward anyways. Plus with how much trouble Luffy gets into having someone with the same blood type might be handy .

I almost do hope they dive into fillers at this point. Get some distance between here and the manga so we don't have to drag things out so much. Needed to get the crew together first and they are. So let's come up with some random adventures and take it easy for a while.

I had hoped the next person to join Luffy's crew would be a woman. The Straw Hat Pirates, are seriously lacking in them. It is currently 2 vs. 7.

Perona should join the crew she was fun and unique.

Yeah, I would love Perona as well, but I wouldn't mind Jewelry Bonney either. Of course, they have to rescue her from Akainu first.

However, will Jinbei really join right now? Wouldn't that leave Fishman Island quite defenseless against stronger foes, considering that Whitebeard is no longer around?

You're forgetting that FI is supposedly under the protection of Big Mam.

And for a price I might add (and if that price isn't paid on time, who knows what horrors she'll have for her 'protectees').

LOL Then you are fine. I don't think anyone has mentioned any of the other shows on these threads for a few years now. Although, lately, the complaint has been mostly about the pacing of the anime itself. Things move too slowly, and people, including myself, are wishing for a whole filler arc in order to have the anime distance itself from the manga.

Btw, this thread is entirely to discuss the anime, so manga content that has not been covered by the anime should not be discussed here. If you want to discuss the manga, there are other threads. However, if you want to discuss the anime, this is the perfect thread for it.

As a side note, if anyone is going to compare One Piece with any other series, they need to put it in spoiler tags and label it as such. In that case, you just don't need to click the spoiler tags to read, and you'll be fine.

However, welcome to the discussions, since this thread is all about discussing One Piece.
